The Orb

Dub chillout pioneers The Orb have been providing the soundtrack to some people's comedown for 25 years now, and main man Alex Paterson is celebrating its Silver Anniversary with a tour. Along with current collaborator Thomas Fehlmann, The Orb will be playing shows around the globe, including a run in North America. The NYC stop happens November 2 at Webster Hall. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (8/2) with an AmEx presale beginning Wednesday (7/31) at noon.

Hopefully, this tour will actually happen, unlike ones in 2009 and 2006 that ended up getting canceled or indefinitely postponed. The band's most recent album is this year's The Orbserver in the Star House which was a collaboration with eccentric dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry. You can stream that, and play catch-up with The Orb's best-known singles (like "Toxygene" and "Little Fluffy Clouds"), on Spotify.

All current dates are listed, along with a few videos, below.

I had some wonderful adventures through time and space on the good ship Orb back in the early 90's, much respect to the captain, crew, and all the Ladies and Gentlemen who sailed on her ; )
