Hailing from Cardif, Wales, quintet Joanna Gruesome make a pretty racket, bouncing between manic shout-a-longs and more tuneful pop. Sometimes in the same song, as in "Secret Surprise" which is the first single for JG's forthcoming debut album, Weird Sister, which is out via Slumberland on September 10. That's the cover art above and "Secret Surprise" makes its premiere in this post.

The group are known for their hyperactive live shows, which NYC should get to see during this year's CMJ. Meanwhile, stream "Secret Surprise" below.

A play on Joanna Newsom...reaching far and wide for stupid band names!

Just sounds like everything is really strong, the singer, the two guitarists, bassist and drummer are really at it. I feel like allot of bands are really empty and it's rare to see all of them enjoying it like you lot.
