Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Paul Weller, Matthew Ryan @ Apollo Theater
The Modfather plays his first of three NYC tonight at the legendary Harlem venue. Expect well-tailored suits, consummate professionalism, and a smattering of classic songs from throughout his 30+ year career.

Matt Pond, Ex Cops, Laura Stevenson @ Brooklyn Bowl
Two emo-y indie rock singer/songwriters Matt Pond and Laura Stevenson are sharing a bill at Brooklyn Bowl tonight, and Ex Cops will be joining them, playing an acoustic set.

Night Birds, Red Dons, Livids, Foster Care @ Cake Shop
Surfy skate punks Night Birds and their Grave Mistakes labelmates Red Dons continue their NYC-area run at Cake Shop tonight. Also of note on this bill is LIvids, the new project of New Bomb Turks’ Eric Davidson.

OBN IIIs, Ex-Cult, Pampers @ Death By Audio
If you like big rock riffs delivered with a punk rock attitude via a singer who demands his crowds to be in the moment, you won’t want to miss OBN IIIs who are playing their second NYC show with Ex Cult. It’s gonna be hot, sweaty and in-your-face.

Bear In Heaven, Quinn Walker @ Glasslands
Glasslands celebrates its seventh birthday tonight with a party featuring Bear in Heaven, Suckers main man Quinn Walker and perhaps some surprises too. $5 at the door.

Luke Temple, TEEN, White Bike @ Knitting Factory
While he’s stayed busy with Here We Go Magic of late, main man Luke Temple plays solo tonight with support from TEEN –whose singer Teeny was in HWGM — keeping things in the family.

The Muffs @ Maxwell’s
The final days of Maxwell’s continue with another great show tonight: ’90s era indie punks The Muffs, who are playing their first NYC-area shows since 2011 this week. Tonight is sold out, but you can also catch them again tomorrow at The Bell House (not sold out).

Adam Green & Binki Sharpiro, Hooray For Earth, Tim harrington @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
This is the kickoff event to the four-day Animation Block Party which happens at a few different Brooklyn venues. Les Savvy Fav’s Tim Harrington will be your MC for the evening that will includes a few animated shorts in addition to the live music.

James Murphy (DJ Set), Eric Duncan @ Output
Ever since the breakup of LCD Soundsystem, it’s pretty much been interesting to see just about anything that James Murphy does, even if it’s only DJing. (Though some who went to the DFA Anniversary might argue that.) Get ready for a lot of disco.

Wampire, Ume, The Vandelles @ Pianos
Ume came through town to open for Trail of Dead at Maxwell’s two nights ago, but they’ve stuck around to bring the wild hair n’ guitars to a smaller show tonight. It’s also been revealed that Wampire, who opened for Smith Westerns last night, are tonight’s special guest.

Foxygen, Thao Nguyen & The Get Down Stay Down @ Pier 84 (FREE)
The second of this summer’s River Rocks series features an appealing bill of Foxygen (climbing their way to the top) and Thao Nguyen, plus openers The Aves. Free!

Smokey Robinson @ Seaside Summer Concerts (FREE)
“Tears of a Clown,” Coney Island, sunset…it’s free. What more reason do you need?

Caged Animals, Potty Mouth, Shark?, Toons @ Shea Stadium
Here’s a strong night of indie rock, headlined by the big-hearted pop of Caged Animals whose new album is out at the end of the summer.

Bust Magazine 20th Anniversary w/ Julie Klausner (Emcee), Cibo Matto, Amber Tamblyn, Har Mar Superstar, Murray Hill, Jessi Klein @ The Bell House
Come celebrate Bust Magazine‘s 20th anniversary with this great line-up of funny folk and entertaining musicians. In addition to the live entertainment, Jonathan Toubin and DJ Samson will be onhand for DJ sets. Tickets are still available.

JD Samson (host), Eli Escobar, Lauren Flax, Amber Valentine, Alinka @ Union Pool
After JD Samson handles the boards at the Bust anniversary, she’ll head to Union Pool to host a free PAT party (“a dance party for anyone from anywhere wearing anything and loving whoever they want”). 10 PM start.

Tegan & Sara @ The Paramount
After opening two big NYC shows for fun., and then playing their own thing at the MLB Fan Cave last night, Tegan & Sara are doing another of their own NYC-area shows in Long Island. And this one is for a good cause.

The Twelves, JDH & Dave P @ Le Poisson Rouge
Tonight Glasslands hosts a FIXED party headlined by Brazilian remix/production duo The Twelves.

Bombino @ Metrotech
Nigerien guitarist and songwriter Omara “Bombino” Moctar plays a free lunchtime show today as part of BAM’s R&B Festival.

Bernie Worrell Orchestra @ NJPAC
Bernie Worrell, who spent time in Parliament-Funkadelic and Talking Heads, brings his Bernie Worrell Orchestra to NJ tonight.

BeBe Winans, Alicia Olatuja @ Prospect Park Bandshell
Free Celebrate Brooklyn! shows in Prospect Park continue tonight.

Ducktails @ MoMA
The MoMA Nights series continues tonight with Real Estate side project Ducktails. Regular museum admission applies.

The Monkees’ ‘Head’ @ Videology (FREE)
The original boy band, The Monkees’ tossed their pop stardom in a can and set it on fire with this trippy countercultural statement of a film that was co-written by Jack Nicholson (!). Sometimes brilliant, sometimes awful, it’s definitely worth seeing. 8 PM, free.

Awkwafina, Wynter Gordon, Erin Markey, Xenia Rubinos @ Housing Works (FREE)
It’s an evening of “noteworthy singer/songwriters” and an eclectic one at that. Erin Markey falls on the comedy/performance art side of things, and Rubinos’ style is hard to pigeonhole. The NY Times’ Elisabeth Vincentelli this panel discussion.

My Brightest Diamond, Emily Wells, Kronos Quartet (with special guest Mariana Sadovska) @ Damrosch Bandshell (FREE)
KRONOS at 40 continues tonight as part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival. Joining the Kronos Quartet tonight will be My Brightest Diamond, Emily Wells, and more.
