Adam Fischer

Though we don't have many details, we are sad to report that the music industry is today mourning the loss of Adam Fisher, a sound engineer and tour manager who has worked for Bowery Presents, Knitting Factory, The Polyphonic Spree, Crocodiles, and many more. Those who knew him, loved him, like the Dum Dum Girls who already Instagrammed the above picture with the caption "love you adam", and tweeted, "Very grateful for the time we spent touring the world with Adam Fisher. Please take care of yourselves everyone. <3". Young Prisms and NOTHING have also acknowledged the great loss. Rest in Peace Adam.

UPDATES:
* read a tribute to Adam by Mishka Shubaly
* Yeasayer tweeted, "RIP Adam Fisher Yeasayer Tour Manager 2010. So many crazy memories. "
* Memorial being planned at the Well

If you saw Man Man, Islands, Yeasayer in the last 6 years you heard him.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 7:11 PM

I saw Yeasayer in 2009, and I haven't heard him.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 7:12 PM

Hey last anonymous at 7.12, go fuck yourself. You heard him if you were at the gig. Duh. It is not even figuratively that you did so cause he was the sound person. Can you even read, moron?

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 7:30 PM

If you saw any band at any Bowery Presents venue in the last 6+ years, there's a good chance you've heard his work.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 7:44 PM

Adam did sound for my band Shy Child dozens of times in the city, and I was lucky enough to play music with him too. He was an excellent person. Totally crushed.

Posted by Nate | August 29, 2013 8:00 PM

Damn, who else is going to kick within the next few days?

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 11:08 PM

He OD'd on hummus....RIP semi-beardo

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 11:22 PM

Hey, please take your attempts to be funny elsewhere, it's incredibly disrespectful. Adam was a real person and a lot of us are truly devastated by this loss.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 11:25 PM

We must all bow our heads, and toast hummus-titas to pay respects.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 11:27 PM

Kids, there is no hummus at the the bottom of the bottle. Tis an illusion.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2013 11:31 PM

I don't know why I click the comments button when I know it's going to make a depressing story even more depressing. Don't you ever feel obligated to regulate this shit, Dave? Least of all on a post of this nature. I know all the bullshit comments probably boost your traffic but it's so fucking disheartening. YouTube may be the only site that has more assholes trolling it's comments section. I'm guessing you choose ignore it, and won't see this comment either, but this site has basically become a petri dish for negative, insensitive, douchbags to let fly with whatever terrible jokes they forgot to use while they were in grade school. Now that you've built an empire on their shoulders isn't it time to regain a bit of dignity? Fuck.

Posted by Ryan | August 30, 2013 12:16 AM

Brooklynvegan needs to send this man's family a robust hummus platter.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 12:38 AM

The only way I can pay my proper respects is by posting this video.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 2:02 AM

Ryan,
Here is a solution big boy. Don't click on the comments section. Problem solved. Why complain to the powers that be? If you know it is a cesspool then stay away from it. Use an outdated art form called talking to your friends face to face about your sorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 2:32 AM

R.I.P. industry nobody. Your insignificant contributions to the live sound for bands almost nobody's ever heard of (or cared about) will truly be missed.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 7:32 AM

I quit comments from today. Fucking hell bound assholes everywhere here.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 8:22 AM

R.I.P. industry hard worker. Your contributions to the live sound for bands will truly be missed. You lived more and did more with your time than low-class, lazy Internet trollers. Your enormous amount of friends and family will never forget you and love you forever.

Posted by His pal | August 30, 2013 8:22 AM

Adam was awesome. It is devastating to lose such a great person. He will be missed greatly. Truly a nice and genuine and hard working good hearted person. I already miss him. RIP Adam.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 9:03 AM

If Adam Fisher dies and no one really gives a shit....

....did anyone really die?

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 9:16 AM

Is that the best pic you have of this guy? out of focus smoking a cigarette giving the finger in a furry hoodie?

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 9:20 AM

The person or people complaining the number of people leaving awful trolling comments, I just want to advise you that it while it SEEMS like it is a LOT of people leaving terrible comments, it could very well just one or two losers posting over and over. Only BV could answer that if he cared to (the IP address check).

I would like to think it's just the one or two brain damaged losers who can't function in society because their mommy didn't love them the right way growing up outside Youngstown or Madison. But if really does turn out to be a horde of trolls, then yes it's depressing and the comments section on this site should be ended.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 9:38 AM

Ryan's tears taste like tahini.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 9:39 AM

we will miss you adam. old friend, great guy to work with and truly a gem.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 10:10 AM

All I can say is I wish to all the decerebrated shits who commented so disrespectfully to lose a friend like Adam, to experience what it feels like. No wait, what the hell am I saying? What friends am I referring to? Pathetic dimwits like you can only find solace in jerking off on a computer cause you are such walking failed abortions that no one would ever entertain the idea of interacting with you. So, yeah, nevermind.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 10:29 AM

Internet 101, mourners. Every time you come here and cry about disrespectful comments you encourage the rest, and then you have a sorry thread like this one.

RIP random dude. May your pita always be fresh.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 10:33 AM

The rudest comment ever written on BV is nowhere near as brutal as these White Knights. Look, it's an anonymous internet message board, a little gallows humor is to be expected. How about you assholes get a little less precious, and join the rest of us in reality?

RIP low-level showbiz worker bee.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 10:50 AM

I love all these people defending their sovereign rights to be stupid, juvenile pricks. "It's a message board, you should expect people to sink to the lowest possible depths of humanity and make insensitive jokes about a person who died, what's wrong with you?" Time well spent, douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:09 AM

^right back at you. Good luck reforming the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:15 AM

"The internet is a cesspool, so it's OK that I'm contributing to it by being a horrible person too!"

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:29 AM

I like the smart alecks WAY more than I like the sanctimonious preening assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:35 AM

I know right? It's so lame of these people to mourn their friend who died suddenly less than 48 hours ago and to have any sort of sensitivity about it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:41 AM

^except that's not really what you want to do. If you wanted to mourn your friend there are other and much more appropriate places to do so than BV. People crack wise on BV. That's just how it is. What you want to do is come here, an try and control things to meet YOUR expectations and YOUR sensibilities.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:47 AM

Really, that's your argument? "If you wanted to mourn your friend, what were you doing commenting on a post about his death?"

Sure, people come here and try to be funny. But a decent person would see some comments from people who are actually sad, and would stop posting. But I guess because people "crack wise" here, it makes it OK to be a total asshole.

Apparently YOUR expectations and YOUR sensibilities about what you expect the tone of a BV message board should be trump everything else. So good on you, hope you feel great about yourself today. You really told off those people who were sad that someone died.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 11:57 AM

^^reality trumps everything else. you just don't like reality.I didn't write every post in this thread and you didn't either. It is what it is. Every person who has ever been made fun of on this board is someone's friend.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 12:00 PM

I worked with Adam at the old knitting factory on Leonard Street from 2003-2004 and was friends with him ever since. He was a great guy and a good friend. I really do feel sorry for all you people who comment negative shit on this site. This is truly sad for me and many others who knew him.

Posted by James Paz | August 30, 2013 3:16 PM

The people complaining about BV commenters barely knew the dead guy.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 3:39 PM

i RIP farts

they're all so negative

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 5:44 PM

I definitely didn't know this guy nor who he was and I still find the disrespectful comments in this thread to be revolting, even for BV standards. SOMEBODY DIED ASSWIPES!

speaking of asswipes, Neko Case is playing the Bell House or wherever

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 8:18 PM

A disrespectful person makes tries to lecture. "I definitely didn't know this guy nor who he was and I still find the disrespectful comments in this thread to be revolting, even for BV standards. SOMEBODY DIED ASSWIPES!"

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2013 8:27 PM

SOMEBODY DIED ASSWIPES!

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2013 11:47 AM

The negative comments are beyond being disrespectful to Adam. His immediate family has been reading all the comments all over face book. So many, soulful, truthful and from the heart. How dare you write about how he died when you don't know anything about the guy or the circumstances. He died, he is gone and how or why makes no difference. A 33 yr old had a lot more living to do and his life was cut short, thats all that needs to be said, its unfair and we are all trying to cope with this sudden tragedy. Adam is getting buried in a few hours and we will need to say our final goodbyes. Please try to hold back your negative and untruthful comments. He touched a LOT of lives in his own way, give us a break would ya? Please..... his parents, immediate family and hundreds of friends are grieving and trying to come to terms with his unexpected departure. Show some humanity and please hold back your negative and unnecessary comments, your timing could not be worse.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2013 2:49 AM

I am a distant cousin who wishes she had known Adam in his hardworking adult life. Wishing you peace, Adam!

Posted by Cindy Elias | September 1, 2013 9:46 AM

It's best to ignore those that post negative remarks, they are unhappy in their day to day lives and are generally not good people to be around, the kind that misuse words like pretentious and hipster. Just give them a smile or laugh at them, they aren't really worth your time.

Posted by Anon | September 1, 2013 4:48 PM

Dealt w him professionally on so many occasions and he was always a sweatheart an actual human not an industry clown at all... so sad <3

It is so sad that there are such insensitive people that have nothing better to do then write such awful things about a human being who suddenly dies at only 33. Who are YOU to judge?! What kind of person are YOU? What awful things you have written about a young man who has recently died says slot about your character. I can only imagine what people really think of YOU.

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2013 8:20 PM

Hey Mr Anonymous with so much to say. Are you upset because no matter what you do in life,,when you die (and you everyone knows that you will die ), you will never have a memorial like this one? Or maybe its becaue you will never amount to anything worth remembering. maybe thats it. you are jealous. Lets just speculate on that day that you crash your car....you might get recognition, for a day or two on Facebook and myspace. "He had the most uncomfortable laugh, i will moss it R.I.P." and that's all that You will get. And no one will ever mention you fondly in conversation again(if they ever did). But people will talk about Adam Fisher, people will remember him for everything that he was. Not only as a human being, like yourself mr anonymous, but as the bad ass hard working soul that he was. (and I get that you don't understand what I mean, but it's only because you are Ignorant to what it takes to bring music to your town, and because your parents obviously never taught you the meaning of manners or respect, and you gotta respect) . And those mr anonymous, are the people that have been left behind to carry on his memory. It is something that you might strive to have one day if you wise the fuck up. But your future is unwritten. Our friend here his future has been written and we recognize the man that he was. And we love him.
