Earl Sweatshirt

Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt has been talking about his Doris album for a long time, and last month he finally announced it'd be out on August 20. Now, a few days ahead of that release, Odd Future have made it available to stream, via their tumblr. Head there to check it out.

Earl is also featured on the new Adult Swim Single Series track from Captain Murphy, aka the rap alter-ego of Flying Lotus. The song is called "Between Villains" and also features MF DOOM's alter-ego, Viktor Vaughn and frequent FlyLo collaborator Thundercat. Stream that track below too (via Pitchfork).

Earl will be in the NYC-area this October for Rock the Bells NJ. All tour dates are listed, along with that song stream and the Doris tracklist, below...

Have any of these rappers ever heard of dressing in something other than a t-shirt?

WTF happened to the days of this?

http://wernervonwallenrod.com/run/rundmc3.jpg

Ok all three were wearing gold chains, but each guy had a different thing going on with his dress.

Spare me "it's not about fashion" when fashion, an image, has been one of the biggest parts of rap since it was born.

This mofo? Mugshot. If ya gonna call yaself "Earl Sweatshirt" then wear a damn sweatshirt not something a dude on the run on an episode of "COPS" would wear.

Hood or no hood for this blooch?

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2013 2:43 PM

Hood on his head to cover his ugly face.

Too bad no hood on his dad's dick in 198X so he wouldn't be born.

Odd Future wouldn't last a week in the hood, not with Tyler The Self-Proclaimed Creator's hatred of his own race.

I saw a tweet by TTC where he went off on people who like '90s rap. Tyler's just sore because he missed the '90s.

"Hive" is my stand out track at the moment http://smarturl.it/EarlHive really dig it

Those were all fake d comments right? D can anyone in the NYCHC scene not wear tshirts? Cause thats all they wear.

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2013 10:29 PM

Earl Sweatshirt / Odd Future are not part of the NYHC (not "NYCHC") scene - never were or will be. If you're gonna invoke my scene at least spell it properly if anything so you don't look like some outsider with no clue about it like you do here. NYHC not NYCHC.

When did I ever say a rapper can't wear a t-shirt? All I'm saying is have these current rappers ever heard of dressing in something other than a t-shirt? Believe it or not, rappers have dressed in other things besides t-shirts - hardcore punk bands, too.

A t-shirt looks cheap. That's ok for hardcore punk bands as none of them have money but inexcusable for Earl Sweatshirt/a rapper pulling down $$$ (like him) and don't tell me he/Odd Future don't rake. In rap you're supposed to look fly, not like a dude at a hardcore punk show or in a police lineup.

Btw he needs to buy a comb, go to a barber, and clean up his hair cuz he looks like a skell.

NYDM > NYHC. Proof. Will from Mortician can take any of you NYHC goofballs. SET IT OFF!

Either this is all fake D (and done fairly well btw) or our poor D is on his way to Amanda Bynes land.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2013 10:22 AM

^ Hahahahardly.

Always with the "fake D" crap.

Give it up, it's me.

Posted by D | August 19, 2013 11:14 AM

Here's what I mean about Amanda Bynes land, and there are a lot of examples recently:

"Earl Sweatshirt / Odd Future are not part of the NYHC (not "NYCHC") scene..."

You can't see that the person was fucking with you? You actually think someone wrote NYCHC without understanding the malaprop?

That's where you're slipping. Soon you'll just be calling people 'ugly.'

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2013 11:18 AM

I dont think that person was fucking with me because using "NYCHC" instead of the proper NYHC is too out there to be a joke.

I replied with what I replied with because I have read absolute nonsense elsewhere (and I think here as well) about how Odd Future have a connection with, an aesthetic like, and an ethos similar to the hardcore punk scene when they do not, never did, and never will.

D, do you have a fat cock, dude?

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2013 12:07 PM

^ You're so defeated it's comical.

Posted by D | August 19, 2013 1:02 PM

ok, D - at least you can justify it. I personally believe NYCHC is purposely to mess with D.

Posted by 11:18 | August 19, 2013 1:35 PM

So not D. Give it up dude.

This is the album of the year and the best OF release since the second mixtape. The video for HIVE is pretty dope too. Can't wait to see Earl Sweat in the flesh on the stage for this tour

Grab mittens who have to spit blizzardous, it's actually flick cigarette ash at b*tch n*ggas harassment eight nickels of hash delay quicken and dash to Saint Nicholas' pad to taste venison. Still in the business of smackin up little rappers with rackets you play tennis with hated for bank liftin and spraying and hide away in the shade of his maimed innocence. Suitcase scented wth haze and filleted sentences. Advanced apathy smashing the man's cameras up, tan khakis and antagonist fan dappered up. Huh. Vagabond. Had it since a Padawan. Rappin hot as f*cking cattle brands wearin flannel thongs. Grab a bong mama and some full beer tag along get a nice spankin. New sears catalog. Send them nettled critics to the vessel stop dead and wrong get em higher than the pitch of metal tea kettle songs.

Earl Sweatshirt is literally the only dude in, Odd Future that I can say, "damn right, , he has a good future, he seems that he actually cares about, hip-hop/rap music, the very essence of it and what it takes to be a legit, MC." because everybody else in, Odd Future seems like a bunch of clowns, pranksters, jerkoffs that don't really care about their image

Why do you put commas where commas aren't necessary? Really annoying.

I'm just a typical 14 year old kid from the boring and depressing state of Indiana who has a dream of becoming a successful Hip-Hop artist. So, it'd be cool, if some of you guys could come check out some of my music and leave some feedback. You don't have to, if you don't want to, but it'd be much appreciated. Sorry, for spamming, but thanks, for reading.

Over 100 of the illest lyricists in hip-hop were spoken to in order to create the books HOW TO RAP & HOW TO RAP 2 on the art form of MCing, those have insights from Masta Ace, Chuck D, Immortal Technique, Pharcyde, and many others.
