DOWNLOAD: Bondax - "Giving It All" (MP3)

Modeselektor at Coachella 2012 (more by David Andrako)
Modeselektor

As mentioned, NYC electronic festival Electric Zoo is returning to the recently restored (after Governors Ball damage) Randall's Island from August 30 to September 1. Though much of the lineup is stuff you probably want to stay away from (like Benny Benassi, Tiesto, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, etc), there's also a handful of people worth seeing, including Four Tet, Moderat, Bondax, A-Trak, Diplo, Baauer, AraabMuzik, Skream, Cyril Hahn, RL Grime, Just Blaze, Joy Orbison, and Scuba. Tickets (3-day passes and single day passes) are on sale now. Full lineup at the festival's site.

There have also been a number of official afterparties announced. There's one at Williamsburg's new danceclub hot spot Output each night of the fest. The two biggest standouts are Modeselektor and Rudimental DJing Best Buy Theater on August 31 with Delta Heavy (tickets), and Chicago house vet Cajmere (who also plays Warm Up that weekend) at Cielo on August 30 (tickets).

Moderat (aka Modeselektor and Apparat) finally released their second album, Moderat II, this month, and you can stream the whole thing via a Spotify widget below.

For UK duo Bondax, Electric Zoo and Chicago's North Coast Festival (which a bunch of other Electric Zoo artists also play) are their only two North American gigs at the moment, after they recently cancelled their appearances at Warm Up and Camp Bisco, which they would have played in July. Check out their recent single, "Giving It All," below, or download it above.

The PMR-signed Cyril Hahn will also return to NYC when his tour with Ryan Hemsworth hits 88 Palace on October 5.

Song streams below...

Electric Zoo sucks. I don't understand the demand for it in NYC because of the huge underground scene. But, I guess its for the masses without any knowledge of decent music.

I can't wait for Tiesto. He's the only dj worth seeing besides Guetta and Aoki of course. I've been working on my tan all summer for this jam. Can't wait to dance with some tripped out sluts who are DTF. Imma get some plur all over a bitches face.

Fuck everyone, I'm going on Friday. Joy Orbison, Four Tet, and Scuba in the same tent is a ridiculous line-up.

However, the remainder of the line-up is REALLY WEAK for a town that has strong demand for deep house and techno. Fixed, Rinsed, Verboten, Resolute, BLK Market or any of the better promoters in the city need to get together and throw a small festival with better talent.

Also, BV you forgot the Dirty Bird after party at Output that Saturday. Eats Everything slays.

are they gonna play sandstorm? I might go for that, I guess, but I dunno...what about vega boys?

You should just pay 30$ to see Dixon at Output

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 3:54 PM

2:27, you forgot Danny Tenaglia & Dixon. Dixon plays fire.

Weak lineup? Are you fucking kidding? To have 100k people over three days and you call it weak? You can have a smaller festival sponsored by the local folks and it would certainly kick ass but on a much much smaller scale. Big ain't bad. Brian and Laura started Made Event as a small promotion house and they grew up. So stop the fucking hating, go away and let the the fun people have their fun.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 5:15 PM

Stopped reading when the article when it listed A-Trak as worth seeing. Egads. Hilarious in an article that tries to lift its nose up in the air about certain types of EDM.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 6:48 PM

4:27, this line up is weak as shit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 8:21 PM

4:27, is Tiesto or someother push-play loving dj.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 8:29 PM

The lineup for Berghain is better this weekend than the lineup for Electric Zoo.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 8:29 PM

I rather sit in bed, and stream rinse fm.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 9:35 PM

much overlap between this event and the mad decadent block party? i fear i am too old and fat to party with the likes of those young, nubile ladies :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2013 9:54 AM

Max Horwich is burial.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2013 5:38 PM

How can you say this is a weak lineup. Ezoo has one of the strongest lineups as far as edm festivals go in the world. Go back to your shants you fucking chuck taylor wearing hipsters.

Posted by anonymous | August 16, 2013 11:13 AM

You just said "EDM" thats why this lineup is weak. You will be there, and your poor taste in music. Have fun wearing your fur rave boots.

Steve Aoki's father started Benihana. Steve Aoki is loaded. He makes 12 million a year, and has his entire father's fortune.

Clearly, kids won't be sitting around eating hummus to this song.

Does EVERYONE read me? Hahaha.

The hate on this thread is honestly despicable. While I agree whole-heartedly that many of the headliners are disappointing (we all know who), you simply cant't deny that some serious talent will be there as well. As mentioned earlier, Joy Orbison, Scuba, and Four Tet in the same tent on Fri....are you kidding me? Then Eats Everything, Justin Martin, and Claude Von Stroke on Sat (and at Output afterwards). The key is just hanging at the small tents where the real talent is (and where the cool people will be) and let the candy ravers do their thing at the main stages. If you can't see beyond the mainstream headliners, then you're simply a short-sighted judgemental fool. Sorry to be harsh. Festival is overpriced though, but what isn't in NYC?

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2013 7:13 PM

What time does Ricardo Villalobos go on?

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 12:32 AM

7:13, you're looking at it wrong. You should be going to Output Friday (ezoo after party), saturday Moma Warmup, saturday night you should go to output if that ends early go to the resolute thing, and then on sunday horse meat disco.

Theres no ned to pay the fees for ezoo when you can go to output, resolute, vertoben, and all that shit regularly.

Also, you left Dixon off your list, Scuba, Skream (could be a weird set for us crowd). Sunday School grove is the only tent or whatever to see. They should just do their own thing in nyc I'd go then.

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 12:38 AM

What time does ND Baumecker go on?

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 12:38 AM

This festival is vinyl only right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 12:38 AM

My source says there will be a special appearance by Ricardo Villalobos on the first day.

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 12:55 AM

12:55 is wrong. My source says that DJ Sprinkles will be a special guest.

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2013 2:18 AM

She says Food Food and then Drug, I'm running Low, got nowhere to go, I'm running slow. So for me it like one of those days, that you have no house, food or drugs.

Moderat's 'Bad Kingdom' has a fantastic video and after learning some basics in Adobe AFter Effects i realised i could do something similar using the program.
