Goldfrapp will release their sixth album, Tales from Us, on September 10. That's the cover art above. While the duo, fronted by Alison Goldfrapp, have become known for their electro-glam stompers, the first single from the new record is the delicate and cinematic "Drew." You can watch the beautifully shot (and somewhat NSFW) video for the song below.

Goldfrapp will play a NYC release show at Beacon Theatre on September 10 as part of the Wordless Music Series. It will be their only U.S. appearance this year and they'll play with the Wordless Music Orchestra. Tickets go on sale Friday (8/9) at 9 AM with an AmEx presale starting Thursday (8/8) at 9 AM.

aren't record release shows usually supposed to be relatively intimate?

Last NYC appearances were Hammerstein 3yrs ago...so...Beacon is a little smaller...not to mention, it's the only U.S. date at all.

New album is another sleeper. They really need to get back to the uptempo stuff.

Just because something isn't "uptempo" or doesn't contain any electro-glam stompers like Black Cherry or Supernature doesn't mean it's a "sleeper". Tales of Us falls in between their more acoustic/heartfelt albums Felt Mountain and Seventh Tree. It's a beautiful and haunting album. If you fall asleep listening to it maybe you oughta to stick to Katy Perry or something like that.

Much of the pop music these days is missing the powerful emotions that are a part of the human experience. This song has the feeling of mystery, wonder, and awe along with the ability to bring some feelings of nostalgia into your heart, nostalgia from fond memories of some past events in your life.

I knew Goldfrapp existed but until Later ... with Jools this week I'd never heard them. Now I'm hooked.
