Happy B-Day Joe Strummer -- tribute band at Knitting Factory this week and East Village mural will be back soon
Happy birthday to the legendary Joe Strummer of The Clash, who would have turned 61 years old today (8/21). (Joe died in December 2002.) Celebrate the man’s life at Knitting Factory on Thursday (8/22) with Clash tribute band Straight to Hell. Tickets are on sale.
Speaking of Joe Strummer, the internet had a bit of a panic attack this week when the Joe Strummer memorial outside Niagra bar (Ave. A @ E. 7th St.) disappeared, but as East Village Radio points out, and owner Jesse Malin confirms it had to be taken down due to building repairs and is currently being redone.
