iamamiwhoami in Sweden in 2011 (more)
iamamiwhoami

iamamiwhoami (aka Swedish electronic art pop musician Jonna Lee) made a name for herself on the internet a few years back when she uploaded some singles indebted to artists like Bjork, The Knife, etc, and since released two albums -- 2012's kin and this year's bounty. We caught her in Sweden in 2011, seeing that she was not just an anonymous figure hiding behind the mask of YouTube, but actually an elaborate live performer. She'll now be taking that live show to the US for the first time this year.

One of the two US shows she'll be playing happens in NYC on September 24 at Brooklyn Masonic Temple, which is the same place that Todd Terje and Lindstrom play that month. Tickets for the show are on sale now. The other show is two days earlier as part of the Symbiosis Gathering in Oakdale, CA.

To me, this is above average, but the singer's nasal voice is irritating and makes the album sound more contrived.

I cannot get enough of this song. I love her lyricism and the videography.

the music paired with the visual effects is just perfection! I've been listening to their music for many years now and iamamiwhoami's stuff is the only kind of music that makes me feel in that special way. I caught myself dancing to their songs like crazy with closed eyes, like I was in another world, but was also crying because of the beauty of their art. I never had those kind of feelings before, it's kind of like a mixture between love, happines compared with sadness, darkness, a mature and artistic sexiness, craziness and a cold or warm feeling caused the temperature of the nature shown in the vids. I never took drugs, but I imagine it could feel like this. My friends don't like them at all unfortunately haha. now typing that comment I think i sound like a weirdo, but that's ok, I just want everybody to know how fantastic iamamiwhoami is <3
