Body/Head at Saint VItus in June (more by Fred Pessaro)
Body/Head

Body/Head, the current project of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon (with Bill Nace) have just revealed "Actress," the noisy first single from their upcoming album, Coming Apart, which is due out September 10 via Matador. Stream the track (via Rookie) below.

Body/Head's previously discussed tour includes a Brooklyn show on the day of the album's release at Union Pool (9/10) with YOSHIMIO and Noise Nomads. Tickets for that show are still available.

Kim's ex-Sonic Youth bandmates Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley have a new Lee Ranaldo & the Dust album on the way, and their tour hits NYC on October 25 at The Bell House (tickets).

Thurston Moore's band Chelsea Light Moving recently announced a tour with Merchandise, but no NYC dates on that one.

Yeah! Kim IS cool. Stupid Shelley.

what about the rest of her?

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2013 7:39 PM

Thurston's lack of will power ruined everything!

Kim Gordon = still would

^is that you D?

While Thurston and Lee might be no longer pushing any new musical boundaries, at least their post SY is decent. This song blows.

Hahaha yep. You gonna lecture me how it's not cool to wanna fuck chicks over 49?

Posted by D | August 20, 2013 12:01 PM

I don't like this. It's not Gorilla Biscuits

Posted by D | August 20, 2013 1:03 PM

I'll disagree with 12:01(1). Thurston's been writing the same two songs over and over for 15 years, including the last many SY albums. At least this is different.
D - Did you enjoy the film "Calendar Girls"? Helen Mirren was interesting in Caligula, 30 years ago.

D, why you so thirsty?

Kim still is great I am sure this sounds great live1

It's not genius. It's not awesome, but it's interesting and best post SY so far.

Kim wins round one.

Now that it is all broken up into pieces, Bill Bert, where the hell are ya? Now's your chance!

Wharton Tiers should totally gum this shit up

I like that this music is created and I'm not the only one who likes it. I like that this is electric guitar + lyrics music´╗┐

Not only is Kim Gordon cool, she's a great bassist. When Thurston and Lee would play in opposite tunings from each other in the same song, Kim held it down and never tuned her bass to a non-standard tuning.

Put politely Kim Gordon's vocals don't add anything to this track. Put less politely, they're absolutely god-awful and render it unlistenable, IN MY OPINION!

If you play this album at the same time as Chelsea Light Moving, they overlap nicely and make the latest Sonic Youth album!!!!!! AMAZING...
