Titus' Patrick Stickles and Liam Betson last night
Titus Andronicus - Pier 84, NYC - August 8th, 2013

Less than a month removed from their three-night run at the now-closed, much-missed Maxwell's in Hoboken, Titus Andronicus headlined a River Rocks show at Pier 84 last night (8/9), the final event of the summer in that space. In addition to that sad news (where has the summer gone?), it was also bittersweet to hear that TA member Liam Betson will be departing from the band -- he's moving to Canada -- and last night was his final show. Godspeed Mr. Betson.

Joining the band was Real-Estate-related project Ducktails and The Beets' frontman Juan Waters, all three of which fought off the bursts of rain. Pictures of all three are in this post.

After a few weeks off, Titus Andronicus will embark on a new set of dates concentrated on the Midwest and Northwest. No NYC in the cards just yet, but those in that portion of the US can check them out at the dates listed below below.

The crowd shots make it look like there were actually people there. This show was embarrassingly empty. 15 minutes are over for this band.

10:43, I agree this band is way overrated and gets way too much coverage here but the fact is it rained last night. That probably had something to do with many people staying away.

This band never keeps a member for more than a few months. That is definitely suspect.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2013 11:16 AM

I disagree that they're overrated I think they're better and going to have more of an impact than the size of their current audience suggests. The first 2 albums are classics, IMHO. The latest album was not as good as music writers pretended, it's true. But even still there's a few ok songs on it.

Then again I think Jay Reatard will also eventually be considered a legend but that's come nowhere close to happening yet so...

It's a deceptively big space, don't think there were really much people there than Webster Hall or any other of their shows despite the bad weather (which turned out to be fine). Patrick recently went off on a Twitter rant on how Local Business sucks; said he was too depressed when writing it. I wouldn't go that far. But they played one new song last night and it sounded fantastic, looking forward to their next album. If they ever stop touring enough to record it.

*...really much less people....

They sold out 3 nights at Maxwells, which may not sound awesome since it was a small club but I didn't see your band there so here's to your sweet fuckall

Please never ever bet any money on any predictions you have in the future. Just trying to save you from going broke.

Hey I was there! Even in some of the pics ha. Titus is great live, tons of energy. Never heard of Ducktails but was a very talented group. Haven't been to any other Riverrocks concert so have no means to compare to, but to me the crowd was pretty small. In all fairness it was rainy with some wind passing through, not ideal weather to come out for a show I guess. Maybe some people even had a hard time getting to the venue at Pier 84. Could be difficult for people who've never been through the area.

12:17 what's yer band name again, bro? Dufus and Teh Bagadicks?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2013 1:13 PM

^Oh that was clever. Doing nothing to disprove that you are in fact a dunce.

You guys are acting like a sack of turds. Cut that out.

Titus andronicus is the worst fucking band ever and will be forgotten. ducktails is great and were very impressive at this show

Patrick Stickles needs to stop commentating in this thread.

Haha, I'm the poser with the Nunslaughter backpatch.

Titus is the most wrongly maligned band on this blog. Guess you all must be jealous. Ducktails was good, though we can do without the five minute guitar solos, guy isn't J Mascis or anything.

"Titus is the most wrongly maligned band on this blog. Guess you all must be jealous. "

Oh that has got to be it. We are all jealous. Can you even comprehend how stupid you are to make a comment like that?

"I will not retreat a single inch"...except on this version of the song, which I'll cut in half for the sake of the music video. Great song, but this is lame. Full version or die.
