Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich's Atoms for Peace hit Barclays Center last night (9/27), as part of their tour, with all the crescendos and dramatic lighting effects you'd expect. The group -- which also includes Flea on bass, stalwart drummer Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco on additional percussion -- played a good chunk of both Yorke's Eraser and this year's Atoms for Peace album, Amok, plus his UNKLE track, "Rabbit in the Headlights" and Radiohead b-side, "Paperbag Writer." If you went, what did you think of the show? Pictures of the show are in this post.

James Holden opened the show and he plays again tonight with Four Tet which, if you didn't hear has moved locations. No longer at Williamsburg's Riverfront Studios, the show's is now happening at 251 W 30th St in Manhattan, which is the space that once housed Rebel NYC. Doors are at 10 PM.

More pics from Barclays Center, plus the setlist, are below.

GREAT SHOW. Was dancing the entire time.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:08 PM

Sold out amazing show!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:31 PM

Flea may be the only musician that can get away with wearing shorts on stage, and they're really bad shorts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:35 PM

This was much, much better than those Radiohead-Newark shows last year. Radiohead & RHCP should both just break up.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:36 PM

oh my GOD Flea is old

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:51 PM

6:36pm - are you serious? the show was good but let's not get carried away - Thom was having a good time but to have to read lyrics from a stand nearby? that was just sad :( and i'm a huge fan - sat outside most of the afternoon just to get a rail spot

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 6:56 PM

I am a diehard RH fan but this show was better and tighter than the RH Newark show.
I have to admit that.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 7:03 PM

I was on the floor. Grabbed a cheap ticket an hour before they went on. Fun show. Was surprised how full it was. Excellent sound. Could have used a few more songs. Gotta love the grooves they play. Some people were actually shakin' their moneymakers! Me included. Cool hearing Rabbit in Your Headlights live. I still liked Radiohead in Newark better. Not sure how anyone could sit upstairs @ Barclays. Also they need better beverage choices there.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 7:35 PM

Looked like a great time and I like the album!

Pita Triangles for Hummus

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 7:48 PM

Let me start by saying i'm a huge radiohead fan, and I like both amok as well as the eraser. My seats were in an upper section. The sound was horrible. All i heard was a loud booming bass. Could not hear much of anything else. The sound was not great. Too bad, since I think I would have otherwise really liked the show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 8:28 PM

Barclays is the WORST venue in NYC. It makes T5 look good.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 8:51 PM

sat a few rows off the floor. sound was excellent! band sounded incredibly tight. thoroughly impressed!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 9:06 PM

They shouldn't open the upstairs for concerts at Barclays or any other arena or stadium. I'm surprised anyone would even pay to sit up there. People complain at every show that the sound is bad. How could it not be? Last night's show and Depeche Mode sounded almost perfect on the floor. It's a long way to the upper level. How could sound even make it up there unless they put speakers up there?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2013 10:18 PM

Thom Yorke is incredibly talented and Flea played some nice lines on a fretless 5 string.

Posted by D | September 28, 2013 11:03 PM

Lighting effects were dull. I paid $14 each for a pair in sect 7 row 6 via stubhub. Great seats . Glad I didn't pay more because it was a mediocre show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 1:24 AM

^
your seats went wasted on you. you are mediocre.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 2:30 AM

I can confirm what 1:24 said. mediocre show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 2:41 AM

I like the solo record and Amok OK, but I don't think they are Radiohead level, and I also think Radiohead put on a better show--the two nights at Newark last tour included.

I was in the upper area of Barclays and it sounded fine to me. I was initially in an area that had sold well but when I realized two songs in that all the idiots around weren't going to stop chatting and playing with their phones, I moved to section 210, which was empty, and enjoyed the show immensely from there, being able to stand and dance without disrupting anyone or being disrupted.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 2:48 AM

It was boring uber self indulgent shit for sycophants with no taste that jerk off to their pitchfork bible.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 4:07 AM

Pretty good show. Not worth what I paid though. But it is interesting because I shoved my way to the barricade and had to stand among the diehards. If you thought people who are on Brooklyn Vegan are bad, I challenge you to talk to people who use the At Ease forum. Oh my god what a bunch of dorks.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 9:06 AM

How long is the show?

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 10:36 AM

Lights were boring...blue, green, white, sleep. Hate to say it but if they could do just a few RH tunes even redone some funky way, it would be eons better. AfP just isn't that good.

Scored GA floor for $25 so can't complain too much.

Oh - what the fuck is the deal with Barclays stopping alcohol sales at a bit after 10pm? That was a total fucking buzz kill.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 12:01 PM

1201 Not exactly music to pound drinks to. We had a few on way to arena and then got high as hell and danced our butts off. Cool show. Not RH but different. More rhythmic. Glad we went.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 12:55 PM

forgettable show. this is just a time filler between RH and RHCP projects. they made some money so the industry will be happy with them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 1:13 PM

113 So you obviously were not there. Dumb comment.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 3:18 PM

1:24 and 2:40 are the same mediocre person.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2013 11:11 PM

dad rock, no?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 12:46 AM

This is not some everyday hummus... This is a seriously robust platter with all the fixens. (Including baby carrot)

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 4:22 AM

great show from the floor, anyone that says otherwise wasnt there

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 8:05 AM

i wasn't on the floor, but I was in a lower section. everyone around me was dancing... so much fun. people went crazy for harrowdown hill

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 9:05 AM

Yep top 3 shows of 2011 for me:) The only other contender would be MBV @ Hammerstein in Nov!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 9:27 AM

you're living in the past dude :)

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 9:36 AM

Thanks for the great pictures. I thought it was a great show. I tend to take it for granted but unlike Radiohead/RHCP songs, Atoms for Peace/Thom Yorke songs must require a lot of imagination to recreate them so that they suit live performance. I saw them 3 years ago at a festival too, but I thought they were even better this time. I liked how it was so graceful yet rather aggressive, and it felt like they gave the songs even more muscles. Very raw and human.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 1:34 PM

atoms for banking

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 1:45 PM

damn ushers were overly aggressive... popping ballons and shining flashlights in eyes of people just having a good time...

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 2:53 PM

one hell of a show, they came out rocking and kept it up for the whole show, super rhythms, off beats, counter rhythms... excellent show... i agree better than the jersey radiohead show...

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2013 2:56 PM

Headlined by the original creator of Radiohead, Thom Yorke, Atoms 4 Peace is a collaborative effort by some of the largest names in music.

Posted by Nova | November 1, 2013 4:45 AM

I still love the album, but I miss Thom's beautiful melodies (which do pop up here and there on the new LP, just not consistently)
