Depeche Mode @ Jones Beach 9/8/2013

Depeche Mode released their "classic sounding" new LP, Delta Machine, earlier this year and have been touring the hell out of it ever since. That trek hit the NYC-area over the weekend for two shows: Barclays Center on Friday (9/6) and Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Sunday (9/8), both of which were with opener Bat for Lashes. The Jones Beach show, which was the last show at the outdoor venue for the 2013 season, was about half-and-half "hits" and new material, giving longtime fans favorites like "Behind the Wheel," "Policy of Truth," "A Question of Time," "Black Celebration," Personal Jesus" and more. How was the new/old ratio for you? Setlist from Jones Beach and pictures from the show are in this post.

Depeche Mode recently played Atlantic City on this tour too. We'll have pictures from Barclays Center coming soon, but you can check out more pics from Jones Beach below.

Ah the Jones Beach orchestra section, a place where semi-wealthy, middle aged Long Islanders bring their scantily clad wives to chat.

There was a Groupon for $20 tickets to this show. Not too many takers, judging from the photos. Still, it would have been nice to have gone home with a DM coffee mug.

Ugh, should have gone to this one. Setlist is so much better than Barclays.

3:24 AGREED! Oddly enough, the crowd was better too.

The empty seats shot was from before showtime. Venue was actually packed, with the exception of a few rows off to the sides.

Yes, the crowd was really into it- a rarity for Jones Beach. A great night!

JEEZUS Martin.. you have the eye shadow of a 20 year old and the ears of a 90 year old!

Damn, should have gone, would have been worth it for the 1-2-3 punch of A Question of Time, Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus

I want to bury my face in Natasha's ass.

the ratio of old tang to new tang left something to be desired

So DM played 45 shows on the Tour so far..they played Barrel Of A Gun 44 times in a row and of course didn't play it at Jones Beach! UUGHH want to hear that live already! Otherwise great show with some nice semi rare DM songs

Glad I went to Barclays seeing as we were right up front but they did get a better setlist at Jones Beach. They definitely still got it going on!

It has been 20 years since I have seen DM live and I am looking forward to tonight's show. I would have never thought back in the day that they'd still be around nor that I would be seeing them in DC for that matter. I'm really stoked though!

In June of 1988 I attended my first concert - Depeche Mode at Jones Beach. 25 years later I got to take my daughters to their first concert at Jones beach and see the same band! Its awesome that these guys are still kicking ass! The girls had a blast and haven't stopped talking about it. 90 bucks on 2 shirts was a bit insane but their worth it.

^That's cool! I hope some of my favorites are still touring when my son is older so we can share those moments like you had with your daughters.

Phenomenal! I love Bat For Lashes; it's just sooooo expressive! And the dancing in this video is just exactly right.

I have to say there is no other band/artist that has stayed relevant as well as Depeche Mode has, and they are still putting out new material. The reality is, today's music audience is mentally challenged, so they can't appreciate this compared to today's popstars, i.e., Justin Beiber or Little Wayne. DM, in my opinion has stayed relevant with new material longer than any other artist.
