The Issue Project Room's space at 22 Boerum Place, located inside an 87-year-old former Elks Club headquarters, is one of the cooler venues in the city. The intimate room, originally designed for chamber music, is especially ideal for the sort of heady soundscapes and textural improvised music often booked there.

Issue continues to celebrate its tenth birthday with a two-month-long series of worthwhile shows that runs through October 26. Catch composer/accordionist/electronic-music-pioneer Pauline Oliveros presenting large-ensemble piece Primordial Lift tonight (9/14). Coming up, acts include guitarist Elliott Sharp (Sept 26), multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi (Oct 3), avant-garde saxist Ken Vandermark and trumpeter Nate Wooley (Oct 4), and Harry Pussy cofounder/out-there acoustic guitarist Bill Orcutt (Oct 5, hear a track from his forthcoming record below).

Plus: Amen Dunes teams with Tom Thayer on October 18, then the next night (10/19)  it's William Basinski, and the night after that (10/20) has No-Neck Blues Band, plus Loren Connors & Tom Carter. And lots more. Full fest schedule is in this post.

Tickets for the whole series are available through the venue.

Recently Marc Ribot and saxophonist Matana Roberts performed at Issue, improvising together for the night's encore. Watch that below, too.

The full schedule is listed, along with those videos, below...

The comma after the word "heady" in the first paragraph is just wrong.

It's a beautiful venue. Too bad the programming is filled with new-jazz wankery and self-indulgent "heady soundscape" idiocy.

The programming is ace. It's just not music for you which is no loss.

Dear 6:14AM-- Phew! Glad the programming @ IPR filters out sub-species like yourself. "Ba-by Rooth"?

I'll give anyone $20 if they can sit through that 7 minute YouTube video of Marc Ribot and not think it is complete wankery and fake musicianship. Dreadful slop.

that's the real track

I just typed it out. I do the math and add up the times of each track, then I listen to it to make sure it's correct. I was hearing the album in full, so thought I might as well put the track listings. You're welcome and thanks for the upload.
