Mike Scheidt of YOB @ Saint Vitus in February (more by Caroline Harrison)
Mike Scheidt

Okay, so this lineup is absolutely insane. Mike Scheidt, the Lennon-esque frontman of astral doomsters Yob and metal supergroup VHOL, has joined forces with Tad Doyle of Sup Pop grunge heroes TAD and Aaron Edge of Himsa and a variety of other bands. Their new troupe is called Lumbar.

Here's what probably happened: Scheidt knew Doyle from their shared Northwestern background; Doyle also tracked Scheidt's Thrill Jockey solo album, Stay Awake. In turn, Doyle knew Edge from their time together in Brothers of the Sonic Cloth. According to his résumé, Edge was the art director for Southern Lord Records until late last year. Put it all together and boom, you've got a debut Lumbar album coming out via Southern Lord in November.

Details remain relatively scant, but we do know that Doyle tracked the album and that Edge composed most of the material, which meditates on his battle with multiple sclerosis. Intense. Check out the cover art, along with a live performance of a song from the Doyle-produced Scheidt solo record, below.

Is it really a super group when all the other bands are terrible?

These guys need to go back and listen to some Black Sabbath and Kyuss records.

I hope this band is as good as the movie "the edge of quarrel"

While I don't favor the sausages, this band is relevant to my interests.

This is being plugged everywhere as Mike Scheidt and Tads new band. In reality, Aaron Edge is the brain and executor. He wrote and recorded all of the music himself. He even wrote the lyrics. This is about him, but unfortunately, his name is at the bottom of it all. Tad and Scheidt only contributed some vocals. This article /unlike most\ mentions that Edge composed the material, but come on! does it really need that silly picture at the top and silly song at the bottom?

I'd rather watch Tad read from a phone book than listen to some guy who calls himself "Adam Edge"

Whoever says this is too mainstream, is too mainstream. god that pissed me off having to come on here for the first time and seeing "too mainstream" go fuck yourself your shit isn't needed anywhere.
