RTB

Just today we were saying how Schoolboy Q would be in the NYC-area for Rock the Bells in October, but the East Ruthford, NJ Rock the Bells stop has been cancelled. DC is possibly cancelled too. More details as we hear them.

UPDATE: The promoters confirmed & issued a statement.

The NJ festival would have happened on October 4 and 5 at Meadowlands Racetrack with Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Wu-Tang Clan, Tyler the Creator, Danny Brown, Joey Bada$$, J. Cole, Rakim, Big Sean and more.

You can still catch Kendrick, Schoolboy Q, and Big Sean in NYC at their Barclays Center show in November.

Meanwhile, Danny Brown, whose new album comes out soon, will open for Sleigh Bells at Terminal 5. Sleigh Bells also just announced a LPR show.

WHY?

Posted by Anonymous | September 26, 2013 2:43 PM

Let me get this straight. Since people now download music illegally, artists get money from events. But now people do not go to shows either.

Way to go millennials. You did more to kill the music industry than themselves.

the lineup was sick.. but i just dont think people like Live hip hop enough to spend hundreds of dollas.

2:51: it's not that people don't go to shows, it's people don't go to shows with shit bands.

Rock the Bells has been poorly run for a few years now. I went last year to PNC, both days, for free. No way I ever would have spent money otherwise to trek out to Holmdel for that show. They had a pretty solid lineup last year, but they were shifting around the schedules constantly. You couldn't get a straight answer when it came to who was playing when, and on what stage.

The problem with this year is that the lineup was weak. And who books an outdoor show in Jersey in OCTOBER? Last year it was on Labor Day weekend, and the place wasn't all that filled up, but it was up against Made in America only an hour away. It was a fun show regardless. Witnessing a cracked out DMX flop-sweat his way through a set was worth the (free) price of admission alone. But Wu Block, Slaughterhouse, Nas, Common, Jadakiss, and Meth + Red are what made the show really great.

I guess no one wanted to spend money to see holograms of dead rappers.

The hologram had a "scheduling conflict"

They're not promoters. They're curators. Show some respect.
