OFF!'s Keith Morris @ Irving Plaza, 9/19/2013 (more by PSquared Photography)
(black) FLAG

If you're into video games, or have friends who are -- so basically, if you are living -- you've either played or heard someone talk about playing Grand Theft Auto V during the past week and change. The game, which dropped on September 17, is widely being hailed as a masterpiece, and it's certainly been commercially successful. GTAV earned $800 million in sales during its first 24 hours on the market and $1 billion during its first three days, which evidently makes it the fastest-selling piece of entertainment media in history. It's big enough that GTAV will be a major part of this year's New York Film Festival Convergance Program, with multiple panel discussions and events.

One of the reasons that the GTA series is so popular is because its world is so well fleshed out. You can have a pretty good time just driving around Los Santos listening to the in-game radio, which is frankly much better curated than most real-world radio. You can thank Keith Morris of OFF! and (black) FLAG (whose tour with T.S.O.L. and Cerebral Ballzy hit Irving Plaza last week) for that, among others. Morris not only curated one of GTAV's radio stations; his other band, OFF!, also contributed an exclusive song to the game. OFF! are currently gearing up to record a new LP, which should see an early 2014 release. We've got that new song streaming in this post.

Song stream below.

Enough with this "curated" crap already. It has to be being used for a reaction now, no?

Real cool that Keith Morris & Co. (Off!) are letting their music be the soundtrack to a videogame which glorifies stealing cars and carjacking.

Yo anyone else in Off! besides Keith (since I know Keith doesn't own a car):

How would you feel if someone stole your car in the real world or worse, stuck a gun to your head while you were at a red light waiting to go over to Keith's to bang out some more early '80s Black Flag/Circle Jerks/Posh Boy Records rehash and took your car right there? I bet you wouldn't think stealing cars was cool then huh?

How 'bout someone stealing Off's van Vice Records bought you? Would you think that's bitchin'? What if the thief blasted Off! while doing it - cool then?

Btw it's Flag not (black) Flag and I think most people who read BV know Flag is a Black Flag cover band, thanks!

2:09- I would think that most intelligent people would realize that there is a difference between real and make believe.

1:40pm If anyone is the "nerd" it's you replying to me.

Off! thinks carjacking or at least a videogame glorifying carjacking is cool, I don't and I doubt you think it's cool either. If you do, fine, but you'd shit in your pants if the real deal ever happened to you (like all you Generation iPhone/X Box herbs would.)
