Steve Hackett was guitarist for Genesis from 1970 – 1979, during the band’s prime prog years. While Peter Gabriel hasn’t really looked back, and the Phil Collins-fronted version of the band sticks mainly to their music from ’80 and beyond, Hackett has been keeping the ’70s Genesis flame alive. He’s twice released albums of rerecorded versions of Genesis songs, most recently on last year’s Genesis Revisited II, and he’s currently doing the same on tour, which hit NYC on Wednesday (9/25) at Best Buy Theatre. His set included such Genesis classics as “Supper’s Ready,” “Watcher of the Skies,” “The Musical Box,” “Fountain of Salmacis,” “Fly On A Windshield” and more. Pictures from the show are in this post.
