Diarrhea Planet

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

The So So Glos, Diarrhea Planet, Grand Rapids, LVL UP @ Shea Stadium
The So So Glos and Diarrhea Planet just joined forces for a Mercury Lounge show on Friday (8/30), but if you wanna see them at their rowdiest and sweatiest, Brooklyn DIY venue Shea Stadium is no doubt the place to do it. Plus, two fine local bands open the night: Grand Rapids and LVL UP.

The Underachievers, Sangro, Kendra Morris, Leaf, Laya LaRoche, MillyZ @ Paper Box
After playing Made In America this afternoon (which is streaming live) they’ll come back home for a late show at Brooklyn’s Paper Box. It’s their first hometown gig since the release of their new mixtape.

Hippy, Beach Arabs, Highway Gimps, The Indecent @ Silent Barn
Hippy are one of the better local bands currently playing a lot on the DIY scene, and tonight they’re at Silent Barn.

Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils, Widowspeak, Soft Metals, Alex Calder @ The Well (Captured Tracks)
Brooklyn label Captured Tracks celebrates its fifth birthday this weekend with a two-day celebration featuring most of the bands on their roster. It’s the second and final night, and a pretty killer line-up tonight, too.

Laurent Gardnier, Mike Simonetti, A.Arias, Mike Huckaby @ Output
Electric Zoo was cancelled, but the official afterparties are still on. Output is also hosting a day party on the roof at 3 PM to help make up for today’s events.

Fred Frith, Annie Lewandowski and Theresa Wong
Avant-garde guitar great Fred Frith is on the final night of his residency at The Stone. Tonight he’ll be performing two shows (8 PM and 10 PM) with Annie Lewandowski on piano and Theresa Wong on cello/vocals.

Roy Ayers @ Blue Note
Jazz-funk legend Roy Ayers wraps up his residency at the Blue Note tonight with two shows, 8 PM and 10:30 PM.

Good comedy options tonight include Hannibal Buress @ Knitting Factory and Chris Gethard @ The Creek and The Cave.
