Okta

German psychedelic rockers Okta Logue just put out their new record, Tales of Transit City via The End Records in the US (and Sony/Columbia worldwide). The record owes much of its influence to the sounds of the late '60s and early-mid '70s, with hints of Pink Floyd's proggy psych atmospheres and the bluesy jamming of the Dead. And somebody was listening to the harmonies of John, Paul, George and Ringo when they wrote "Mr. Busdriver." Tales of Transit City isn't only a retro thing though. Though Okta Logue love the sounds of yesteryear, they do them in a way that suggests they're fans of some modern bands like The Walkmen and The Helio Sequence too. Check out two videos from the album and a Spotify stream of the whole thing, below.

Okta Logue are kicking off a North American tour in NYC tonight (10/2) at Mercury Lounge with NYC chamber pop collective Friend Roulette, who sound like they've heard a few Sufjan records in their time (stream their I'm Sorry You Hit Your Head LP below). Tickets for tonight's show are still available.

After making their way around the US and Canada, Okta Logue return to NYC for CMJ, where they'll play the previously discussed Long Winters show at Bowery Ballroom (10/18), which also includes Eleanor Friedberger, Reuben and the Dark, Kan Wakan, and Promised Land Sound (sold out).

Friend Roulette have some CMJ shows scheduled too, including one at Paper Box (10/15) with Beliefs and Heliotropes (tix). All dates for both bands are listed, along with the videos/streams, below...

and you're holding on to things that you have done. but where are you when all your work is done? and you're acting like you're always on the run, but linger on and try to see the sun. the wind blows through the meadows and the sun is waiting for the ones who'd like to come. and even if you're always on the run, linger on and try to see the sun.
