Rodriguez @ Radio City Music Hall - 10/10/2013
Just after 9 p.m., Rodriguez was escorted onto the world-famous Radio City stage by his daughter, who happens to be his manager, and personnel from his crew and was handed a pair of sunglasses, a top hat, and his guitar and he began to play. Backed by a band a generation younger than him, Rodriguez seemed comfortable, alive, and perfectly in tune to what was happening and what was around him. It sounded as if his singing has not aged one bit and sounded as pristine as he does on recordings from over 40 years ago. - [HufPo]It's been quite a year for Sixto Rodriguez. The documentary about him, Searching for Sugar Man (which screened as part of CBGB Fest this week), was a surprise hit (and Oscar-winner), catapulting him into the spotlight 40 years after fading into obscurity. He just played two big NYC shows: Barclays Center on Wednesday (10/9) and Radio City Music Hall last night (10/10). Opening at Radio City were Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit and pictures from last night are in this post.
