TOY @ BVSXSW 2013 (more by Sarah Frankie Linder)
TOY

Dang it, Visa Issues strike again. UK band TOY were to have made their NYC debut this Thursday (10/10) at Glasslands but the venue just tweeted, "We are sorry to announce that due to delays w/ US immigration, Toy will no longer be able to play on 10/10. Refunds available via ticketfly." That's the second time they've had to cancel NYC shows this year.

TOY will, however, still be playing the The Corona Capital Fest happens October 12 & 13 at Mexico City's Hermanos Rodriguez Autodrome.

Thursday's Glasslands show is now Spires (who were to have opened for TOY) and Young Boys.

Great, glad to know they are playing Mexico City. Will make my way there accordingly.

Seriously, I call BS on this sort of thing. Doesn't your manager work on these sort of 'issues' months in advance?! You're a band, not a traveling militant mosk.

to 11:57 and others -- contrary to obama's rhetoric about trying to make the US a welcoming place for culture/artists ... the actual government office that deals with visa applications is incredibly strict... often denying people for no reason at all other than they feel like it, or have to meet a quota or something like that. it's way more difficult and more expensive (talking 500-$1000 at least) than you think to get a visa. And it can sometimes take months because your application will just sit in the office. and on the contrary again, i just had a friend go get a music visa for japan in fifteen minutes at the japanese embassy for like....$50. It's ridiculous.
