If you're not too hungover from CMJ to go out one more night this weekend, browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...
Islands, Brazos, Fat Tony @ Bowery Ballroom
Canadian indie pop band Islands are about to wrap up their tour in support of their recently released fifth album, Ski Mask. They just played a last-minute show at Knitting Factory last night, and tonight they hit the larger Bowery Ballroom. The multi-genre bill also includes Houston rapper Fat Tony.
Ghost Wave, Echosmith, Wardell, July Talk @ Brooklyn Bowl
A few of this year's hotter CMJ bands like Ghost Wave and Wardell team up for this post-CMJ show before returning home.
Molly Nilsson, Bird Call, Lydia Ainsworth @ Glasslands
Berlin-via-Stockholm art pop singer Molly Nilsson mixes big vocals with dark synths in a way not too different from Zola Jesus or Austra.
No Neck Blues Band, Loren Connors & Tom Carter, Suzanne Langille & Cammisa Buerhaus @ Issue Project Room
The Issue Project Room anniversary continues tonight with these avant-garde, vaguely blues/guitar groups.
Cro-Mags, Bane, Mindset, Shitkill @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
NYC crossover thrash vets Cro-Mags return to the stage at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight. Hopefully things go over better this time than last time.
King Dude @ Worship (early) Saint Vitus (late)
King Dude just wrapped up some CMJ shows, having brought their dark intensity to our BV party yesterday, and today they do it in NYC two more times.
Western Addiction, Livids, Weird Womb @ Acheron
Western Addiction are one of the punk bands who reunited for this year's Fat Wreck Chords CMJ showcases, and they're sticking around for a post-CMJ show in a much punker venue, Acheron. Opening are Eric Davidson's (New Bomb Turks) band Livids, and local garage punks Weird Womb.
Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band, Soft Location, Abdoulaye Diabate & Banning Eyre @ Union Pool
Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio is in the midst of his October residency with his newish side project Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band. This is their third of four nights.
Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, Twin Guns, Hard Bodies @ Secret Project Robot
Legendary guitarist/singer Kid Congo (The Gun Club, The Cramps, The Bad Seeds) brings his band The Pink Monkey Birds back to Secret Project Robot (where they've played before). Tomorrow their tour hits Mercury Lounge.
Comedy Night w/ Hannibal Buress @ Knitting Factory
Big league comedy talent (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc) show up regularly (and unannounced) for Hannibal's very popular free comedy show at Knitting Factory's front bar. Get there early.
