Arcade Fire in Bushwick in October (more by Eric Kayne)
Arcade Fire

To everyone really upset about us asking people to dress up at our shows... please relax. It's super not mandatory. It just makes for a more fun carnival when we are all in it together. So far these have been the best shows we have ever played.
See you soon.
Love,
Arcade Fire
The above message was posted to Arcade Fire's Facebook after the internet-wide backlash to their request that you wear "formal attire or costume" to the shows on their upcoming tour.

As discussed, that tour hits NYC on August 22 and 23 at Barclays Center. Tickets go on Live Nation/LN Mobile App presales today (11/21) at 10 AM.

I can't believe how hard everyone is taking this. Dress up. Wear a suit or a dress. Have your girlfriend wear a suit and you wear a dress. Switch it up. Have fun. Stop WHINING.

Got a GA ticket through the mobile app pre-sale. Not going to dress up. Will wear a tank top, mesh shorts and flip-flops out of spite. Will eat PF Chang's for a week and FILL the pit with farts.

10:54, there are only so many syllables that fit in a pop song. Otherwise you end up like Conflict or Crass.

This is what Jimbone has to say about the shrews and pantywaists bitching and moaning about this: Get a life! God, the kids today, all they do is complain. Listen to this, you dweebs, and get lost.

It is important that true artists exercise their ability to fully express themselves and interact with their fans in a way that will heighten the performance experience for all involved. Huzzah AF, huzzah.

Frohawk will be there.

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2013 1:22 PM

Yeah. Fun is dumb. I can understand the negativity.

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2013 2:15 PM

Phish fans > juggalos > people who dress up to go to an Arcade Fire show

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2013 2:34 PM

"super not mandatory." like, totally, like, yeah. who the hell talks like that?

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2013 3:08 PM

Dressing up made the show more fun here. Everyone just loves to hate on the Arcade Fire these days, but I don't know why. They were some of the sweetest people I've ever photographed. No egos at all. If people don't like their music, that's fine. Everyone has different tastes, but they are good musicians and at least being creative and interactive in their own way. They are better people than those of you here posting hateful, negative shit that you would never say to someone's face. We should all be happy when artists can make a good living. Too much money goes to corporate & finance assholes. Go hate on them.

^ This is either James Murphy or Win Butler

Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2013 11:59 PM

@8:11 they did it only for the camera, not for you.
