Danny Brown @ Terminal 5 - 11/23/13
Danny Brown

Bob Dylan music video star Danny Brown just teamed up with Sleigh Bells for the last two nights of their tour, which took place at NYC's Terminal 5 on Friday (11/22) and Saturday (11/23). For Danny, they were the first NYC shows since the release of his excellent new album, Old. Pictures of his set from Saturday's show are in this post.

Danny has a few more shows scheduled before the year ends, including a much more intimate performance in-store at the new Rough Trade NYC on Tuesday (11/26). It starts at 5 PM and is totally FREE, no wristband/RSVP or anything necessary. (4:30 doors.) All upcoming Danny Brown dates, including New Year's Eve in San Francisco with Flatbush Zombies (who also play NYC soon) and Traxamillion, are listed below.

Meanwhile, Rough Trade NYC opened TODAY (11/25) at 9 AM and later there will be an in-store/signing from Sky Ferreira at 7 PM (with a purchase of her new EP or LP) and an in-store from Charles Bradley at 8:30 PM (free).

I don't think Danny Brown ever sticks his tongue out enough. He should do that more often.

oh my god, a rapper with misogynistic lyrics. how could this have happened?

The album is fantastic. It's also art - it's not non-fiction.

Posted by Anonymous | November 25, 2013 2:06 PM

Danny Brown is not art - fuck off

Posted by Anonymous | November 25, 2013 2:22 PM

Danny brown is for sluts who hate their parents and white dudes who want the world to know they do drugs. That's it.

Without debating the issue of whether Danny Brown's music is art, let's just stipulate that it is so that we can move on to a discussion of the fact that not all art is good or worthy of esteem. Art does not exist in a vacuum, nor does it get a free pass because it is art and presumably fiction. If art is a reflection of society, then we have to seriously think about our society and culture if Danny Brown's art means something or says something to us.

Why do rappers rap over their own lyrics? Why don't they use the instrumentals?

Posted by Anonymous | November 25, 2013 4:14 PM

i never understood why they can't get their own instrumentals

Generally people get famous before they enter the decline of partying and hard drugs. This guy started from the bottom and is actually finding a whole new level to decline to. Kudos for monetizing it though!
