Cat Power / Sky Ferreira at Elliott Smith tribute (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Cat Power
Sky Ferreira

As you may have heard, on the tenth anniversary of Elliott Smith's death (10/21), a tribute show went down at Glasslands in Brooklyn with a number of musicians, including Cat Power, Zachary Cole Smith (DIIV), Sky Ferreira, Yoni Wolf (Why?), The Low Anthem, Luke Temple, Marissa Nadler, Aaron Pfenning, Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz), and more. We already posted pictures, the setlist, and a fan video from the show, and now there's professional video of the show, courtesy of The Bomber Jacket (one of the show presenters). They're planning on releasing the audio from the show as well ("hopefully by Christmas"), and all proceeds from that release will benefit the Elliott Smith Memorial Fund.

Meanwhile you can watch those videos below...

Troll bait post. This clusterfuck was talked to death in the original post. The takeaway is that Cat Power needs rehab and that people who want to play at a "tribute" shouldn't read from lyric sheets.
Oh yeah, and that Elliot Smith was a genius, but everyone at this show basically sucks.

Wow! Sick. Wish I could have been there.

Was hoping there would be video! Low Anthem's rendition is good.

one camera with a zoom feature makes this a 'professional' video?

This all sounds pretty bad. If you're not gonna do the songs justice don't bother.

Great show, I was particularly impressed with Speedy Ortiz. Speedy Ortiz Speedy Ortiz Speedy Ortiz

Why does the audio sound like it was recorded inside of a box.

Posted by Anonymous | November 4, 2013 12:20 PM

Wow. Sky and Cole hardcore raped that song.

Posted by Anonymous | November 4, 2013 12:23 PM

jesus that Sky/Cole video was pretty unwatchable on all fronts. like bad karaoke at last call...

The so-called "pros" who shot and recorded this should refund 100% of whatever they were paid. These "pro recordings" are absolute garbage.

Posted by acidjack | November 4, 2013 1:59 PM

yeah srsly 100% garbage, was aty the show, the dude with the horns ruled, the chick was good, the band was good but who the FUUCCKK is sky ferreria and who the fuck cares

very mediocre video and audio quality for being "professional"
I know its for a good cause, but I would never buy it... sorry!

Posted by Anonymous | November 4, 2013 7:28 PM

I'm sure that the promoters could have gotten work for free that would have smoked these poor quality recordings

Hey guys, video work was indeed done pro bono..it didn't turn out like I had hoped, but we can't go back on it now. :)
As far as the audio recordings go, they are getting mixed and mastered and will be out later.

Chan directed it, I respect the creative value, and I still love the song and all that, but... just... the video doesn't make too much sense to me.
Release the hatredcopters!
