Brooklyn multi-sensory electronic music party Connect is taking over 285 Kent tonight (11/7) for a show with an excellent lineup of Brooklyn genre-crossing producer Slava (who just returned home from a European tour), Doldrums/Hooded Fang-related project Phedre, and two other local producers, Rioux and Rimar. Matt O’Hare of Prism House will be providing live visual projections. Tickets for tonight’s show are available, and the flyer is below.

Rioux, the psychedelic dance project of Erin Rioux (pronounced ree-yoo), is originally from Rochester Hills, MI but he’s been playing around his new hometown of Brooklyn for a while now (including past Connect parties) and is making some of the more interesting music of the newcomer producers on the scene. His excellent single from earlier this year, “Spirit Calling” b/w “Miniatures,” pieces elements of modern bass music with warmer, Four Tet-like production and off-kilter pop melodies. You can download both tracks above or stream them below.

Meanwhile Rimar, another Brooklynite (via California) who’s been playing locally for some time now, signed to Bella Union last year, and though details are sparse, he appears to be planning his debut full length. He’s got a few EPs out, and you can stream the funky “Higher Ground” from his 2011 EP of the same name, below.
