Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

The New York City Marathon
Like the Village Halloween Parade, the NYC Marathon took last year off thanks to the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, but is back in the race this year with nearly 50,000 runners. Go out and cheer them on.

YouTube Music Awards @ Pier 36
We’re not sure why YouTube is giving out awards, but they’ve got an impressive line-up of performers, including Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lindsey Stirling, M.I.A., Tyler, the Creator, and Earl Sweatshirt. You can watch that live on YouTube beginning at 6 PM EST.

Oneohtrix Point Never, Nate Boyce @ MoMA PS1
Ambient soundscaper Oneohtrix Point Never joins forces with past collaborator/visual artist Nate Boyce for this multimedia performance in MoMA PS1’s VW Dome. It’s an early show, going from 4-7 PM.

Nik Turner’s Space Ritual @ Saint Vitus
Hawkwind canceled their tour, but you can still catch former member Nik Turner, who released a new album, Time Crypt, earlier this year. Expect lots of Hawkwind songs, though, too tonight.

Jenny Hval, Stine Motland, C. Spencer Yeh, Attila Cshar, Bel Canto @ Angel Orensanz Center
This is a pretty interesting bill, showcasing diverse vocal styles, including those of Norwegian art pop musician Jenny Hval, Mayhem/SunnO))) chanter/growler Attila Csihar (who will be performing solo as Void ov Voices), and another Norwegian artist, Stine Motland, who’s collaborating with Brooklyn violinist C. Spencer Yeh.

Guardian Alien, Child Abuse, Skimask, Oozing Wound @ Secret Project Robot
Thrashy Chicago band Oozing Wound recently brought their tour to NYC for a show with Pop. 1280, and tonight they team up with more quality locals for a second show here.

Braids, Hundred Waters, Kodak to Graph @ Bowery Ballroom
Montreal band Braids traded guitars for keyboards last year for a largely electronic sound that can be heard on their new album, Flourish // Perish. They’re touring (as they have in the past) with Florida’s Hundred Waters who make a similarly ethereal soundscape.

Tennis, Luke Temple, Chalk And Numbers, Jason Eldredge @ Brooklyn Bowl
Colorado lite-pop duo Tennis release their new EP for the Communion label this week and play this free School Night party with likeminded Brooklyn duo Chalk and Numbers.

Jim Jones, Ski Beatz @ Mercury Lounge
It’s a solo show for Jim Jones of Dipset tonight, and he’s been joined by hip hop production wizard Ski Beatz.

Fly Ashtray, Butterscott, Talsness, Regal Degal @ Cake Shop
Having formed in 1983, these long-running, sporadically active NYC indie rockers remain of the city’s best kept secrets. Art punk openers Regal Degal have probably heard a FA record or two.

Genders, Ovary Action, Crazy Pills @ Death by Audio
Portland psychedelic rockers Genders make dark, atmospheric stuff that’s still pretty catchy. They’re in NYC for a few shows this week, including tonight’s at DbA, Monday at Shea, and Tuesday at Arlene’s Grocery. Stream a track below.

Amon Tobin presents Two Fingers DJ Set @ Le Poisson Rouge
After having spent the last two years or so doing his massive multimedia ‘ISAM’ shows, Amon Tobin is reviving his Two Fingers moniker for a DJ set at LPR tonight.

Comedy Night w/ Hannibal Buress @ Knitting Factory
Big league comedy talent (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc) show up regularly (and unannounced) for Hannibal’s very popular free comedy show at Knitting Factory’s front bar. Get there early.

Other good options tonight include Kissing Is A Crime & more at Silent Barn, Vulture Shit and more at Arlene’s Grocery,
