Brooklyn rapper Champagne Jerry (aka Neal Medlyn) continued his monthly Joe's Pub appearances over the weekend (12/7) as part of the rollout for his upcoming album, For Real You Guys. In conjunction with this past Saturday's show, CJ is releasing the new single "Yo Kev!," which amazingly features Beastie Boy Ad-Rock, who also performed with CJ at the show where the song was debuted and the video first screened. That video now makes its online premiere in this post, and you can watch it below.

The softball-themed video, which was directed by Jason Cacioppo and shot it in September in Williamsburg, stars Ad-Rock, Champagne Jerry, Jerry's DJ and producer Max Tannone, downtown legend and everyone's favorite host Murray Hill as the coach, House of Larreon fashion designer, visual artist and performer Larry Krone, ex-Isotoners and performer Jim Andralis, Eben Burr, artist Cycle, Morningwood/Wallflowers/Exclamation Pony member Peter Yanowitz, fashion model Lisa Davies, Mia Juhng, writer and journalist Ada Calhoun, Babe the Blue Ox's Eddie Gormley, and legendary graffiti artist, graphic designer and creator of the Champagne Jerry logo Cey Adams.

Rolling Stone caught the Joe's Pub show, which saw a Beastie Boy in one of NYC's most intimate venues, and they wrote:

As the cavernous bass tones and rugged drums of "Yo Kev!" kicked in, Champagne Jerry and Ad-Rock traded rhymes onstage, with the latter clad in a baseball cap and t-shirt baring the slogan "Referee." While Jerry's rhymes included the boast "all of Taylor Swift's songs are about me," the Beastie Boy dropped scattershot lyrics that featured him bragging how he "pop bottles so hard got carpel-tunnel" and included references to all-day brunch and the chicken-tastic Brooklyn food spot Pies 'n' Thighs. The video to the song, which has the characters playing ball in a rough and tumble environment, also had its world premiere.
Pictures of the show are in this post too. Check out more, along with the new video, below...

Ad-Rock should have shown up at the Luscious Jackson show up the block. They could have used the help.

The funniest comments on Brooklyn Vegan are now the spam advertisements. Just saying. I'm earning a second income selling people carcinogens from my mom's basement. You can too.
