Cibo Matto announces new album, tour, & single featuring Reggie Watts (dates & video)

Cibo Matto began playing shows again in 2011 and also around that time mentioned a new album was in the works. They finally previewed songs from that album this past May, and now it’s officially been announced that their followup to 1999’s Stereo Type A will be titled Hotel Valentine and is appropriately coming out on Valentine’s Day (2/14). The album is coming out on Chimera Music, the label Cibo Matto’s Yuka Honda co-runs with Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl. They also just released the first single from the album, “MFN,” which features Reggie Watts (who plays Irving Plaza tonight, 12/11) and lots of requisite food references, and you can watch the video for that below. In addition to Reggie Watts, other album guests include Nels Cline, Glenn Kotche, Mauro Refosco (Atoms for Peace), and more. The album artwork and tracklist are below too.

Cibo Matto will also be touring around the time of the album’s drop, and that tour includes a NYC record release show happening on February 14 at Le Poisson Rouge. Tickets for that show are not on sale yet but you can check LPR’s site for updates. All tour dates are listed below.
