Decibel

Decibel Magazine is back with its annual top 40 albums of the year list. Two of the top three (including the #1 spot) are reunion albums from death metal veterans, though many younger bands place highly as well. And the one metal album we can safely expect on many non-metal lists, Deafheaven, makes it on there too.

Check out the full list below...

What, no Estelle?

I would rather listen to all of these than Spin's list, and I don't even like metal all that much anymore.

Weird list I dont know like 15 of these bands and i read decibel aka buy it and flip through it for bands i like

The Nails album is obviously the best album of the year. Im ok with Deafheaven at 11, would have preferred it lower but whatever.

I cant really get into the new albums from Coliseum and Kylesa.

And i thought Watain would be in the top 5 like usual

why the fuck did i just write all that

I really dig Mike D's new look. Dapper.

No Pelican- "Forever Becoming". The new All Pigs Must Die destroys the new Nails release tenfold.
No Pinkish Black. No Morne. As stated, No Weekend Nachos & Kvelertak. The drumming on the new Toxic Holocaust is terrible sounding.
The new Russian Circle is pretty good too.

Fuck all. Orange goblin!

Posted by xulbehemoth | December 13, 2013 3:12 AM

The biggest crime, by far is Decibel totally choosing to ignore the absolutely incredible album by Extol. Gee, wonder why?

Posted by OnceDead | December 22, 2013 8:44 AM

Isn't Empyrean from 2012? Awesome record though.
