Janelle Monae at The Apollo in October (more by Luis Ruiz)
Janelle

Boundary-pushing soul singer Janelle Monae, who has been seeing her 2013 LP The Electric Lady ending up on some year end lists, has announced a few winter dates for 2014. She starts out on the west coast in early January and then she heads east to play Atlantic City on 1/31 and a Hot 97-presented NYC show on February 1 at Hammerstein Ballroom with an excellent lineup that also includes Black Hippy rapper Schoolboy Q and veteran hip hop producer-turned-Baauer collaborator Just Blaze. Tickets for that show go on sale today (12/6) at noon. All dates are listed below.

Janelle also performs at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in DC today (12/6) with Aretha Franklin, Barack & Michelle Obama, and more. It streams live online at 4:30 PM.

Still no word on the release date of Schoolboy Q's Oxymoron, but he did recently release another new single "Man of the Year." Listen to that, along with the list of Janelle Monae dates, below...
