people outside Other Music on Record Store Day 2013 (more by PSquared)
Other Music

Other Music, the NYC record store (15 E 4th St) and record label (home to Nude Beach, Mutual Benefit, and others), has published its top 30 albums of 2013 list. The multi-genre list has a lot of cool, generally smaller releases in the electronic, hip hop, garage rock, folk, jazz, and other genres, steering clear of the big names that end up on a lot of these lists.

Check out the whole list in alphabetical order below, and read commentary on each one, plus take a look at Other Music's favorite reissues here.

Criteria for list:

1. Less than 5 copies sold
2. Less than 5 total listens worldwide, including band's family
3. If anyone else on staff has heard of record, disqualified

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2013 2:01 PM

11:37 is the college dropout in the blue sweater up front.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2013 2:57 PM

Hey 2:01 just cuz you haven't heard of any of these bands doesn't mean no one listens to them. Pull your head out of the fucking sand and clean the shit out of your ears.
People who bitch about "obscurity" are lazy and boring. Esp. in the age of the almighty Internet. Just admit it, you probably don't even actually like music.
