Vampire Weekend @ Roseland in April (more by Robert Altman)
Vampy Weeks

The Monday after Thanksgiving Weekend is looking to be Official Year-End List Day, as we've already got SPIN, and Paste, (plus ones from UK mags  Q and Mojo) and now here's the one from elder rock statesman Rolling Stone, who have Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City in the top spot, with Kanye West's Yeezus at #2. RS' Top 10 also makes room for John Fogerty, Paul McCartney, Lorde and more. Haim are at #31 for those keeping score. Glad to see Parquet Courts up there

So is this all we're going to be seeing today? This blog is such a fucking joke now. Who cares.

Wow no Run the Jewels or Sunbather, what a disgrace, and the new Queens record is by far their worst ever. Just gonna put this out there - I haven't heard the new Elton record, but ... come on, there's no way it's one of the best this year.

bah

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 1:21 PM

best list so far

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 1:22 PM

I don't understand why everyone gets so worked up about these lists. I agree with @12:59, it seems like 50-75% of content that BV posts now is related to page-clicks and marketing. There's nothing we can do about it, it just sucks that a blog that used to be one of my primary resources for music news is now practically a Bowery Presents promo blog.

Did the Youth Lagoon album come out this year? I haven't seen it on any lists and I thought it was pretty fucking great. Anyone?? Should I just draw a target on this post?

Vampire Weekend and Kanye West are numbers 1 and 2 . . . What a joke.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 1:50 PM

There's so much corporate cock sucking in that list that I feel like I should be choking on jizz by just reading it.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 1:54 PM

Better than that SPIN shit from earlier but still...Vampire Weekend sucks. SUCKS.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:04 PM

Best Coast - Fade Away EP.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha!

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:16 PM

guess rolling stone doesn't listen to electronic music. machine drum's "vapor city" clearly should be top 5 on any list and the new zomby record while his worst definitely should be top 50.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:31 PM

Parquet Courts???? Wasn't that 4 song 14 minute EP??

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:44 PM

I had such a serious yoga-class half-chub going earlier until I made the mistake of perusing this reprehensible list. Who or what the hell is an Earl Sweatshirt? That can't be real LOL. I know that it technically came out last year, but why we're not all still talking about "Slipstream" by Bonnie Raitt is beyond me. Her finest album in decades. Still gonna renew my subscription to RS this X-Mas though. I just adore the "Random Notes" section!!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:55 PM

Expected Kurt Vile to score higher with RS

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 2:55 PM

Lol at the people loling at Vampire Weekend, who made the best album of the decade so far

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 3:45 PM

I love how old farts like McCartney and Fogerty and Elton are sprinkled into the list. These are people that hang at Jann Wenner's Hampton house.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 3:59 PM

LOLZ at BANGERZ

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 4:01 PM

No disrespect to Parquet Courts, but I'm sure nobody at RS has actually heard them. It's an attempt to say "hey look, this mag is still relevant!". Which it isn't.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 5:17 PM

ain't no love for Cass McCombs

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 6:49 PM

who the fuck is paying to keep Eminem on these lists?

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 6:53 PM

Haim needs to be much higher.

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 7:14 PM

They need to stop covering music. Even pitchfork does a better job. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 7:44 PM

At least Justin Timberlake's album isn't on there. (Somehow.)

Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2013 7:44 PM

Posted by xxX_I_Love_Elsa_Xxx | December 3, 2013 12:15 AM

Anything with Daft Punk shouldn't be taken seriously

Posted by Anonymous | December 3, 2013 12:17 AM

What about The Chickpeas and the Hummus?

Posted by Anonymous | December 3, 2013 12:18 AM

.....proof that Rolling Stone is an irrelevant voice in music? It might as well be billboards list of top semi hip bands that still sell albums. It reminds me of what an ipod with all the new releases sold at wal-mart would look like.

Posted by Anonymous | December 3, 2013 12:21 AM

Good point, where are the iPods?

Posted by Anonymous | December 3, 2013 12:50 AM

Wow! Popular music continues to get worse every year. No Nick Cave but they include Miley, Vampire Weekend (#1 ha ha ha ha) and Haim? Who votes, 12 year olds?
