It is with great excitement for us to unveil The Silent Barn's Winter 2013 Fundraising Campaign to our fantastic community of supporters! As we pass the first anniversary of our 10-year commitment to our new building, we cannot help but be excited about all of the projects, installations, and performances that can be created here over the remaining decade. To assure that the Silent Barn dream continues, we are working to raise $20,000 by January 1st, 2014, which will finish renovations, strengthen our infrastructure, and enable us to continue offering diverse programming in the new year.

We are seeking your support, as our community, to help us raise achieve this goal. Your donation will help to complete the last of our startup costs, investing in the Silent Barn's infrastructure for years to come. In gratitude, your donation to the Silent Barn is tax-deductible through our non-profit fiscal sponsor, Flux Factory, and you will receive an exclusive donor gift currency that brings you artworks, records, tshirts, beer, entry to shows, tea blends, haircuts, craft supplies, noise friends, cassette tapes, and many great gifts made by the Silent Barn family.

Silent Barn opened in their new location (603 Bushwick Ave) back in January and have had an ambitious first year there but are looking to raise $20K by January 1 for reasons explained above. For more on their fundraiser (and an explanation of the donor incentives, called "barnacles"), you can watch a short video below and or visit Silent Barn's donate page.

Tonight (12/10) at Silent Barn you can see Motion Studies (feat. member of Mr. Dream) who are making their live debut, plus Fasano, Courtship Ritual, The Flag, and Horselover Fats (also making their live debut).

UPDATE: Here We Go Magic, who we just caught at Baby's All Right, play an intimate show there on Sunday (12/15) with Celestial Shore, Les Bonhommes, and Ron Shalom/Austin Vaughn.

Meanwhile, the old Silent Barn space is now Todd P's new spot Trans Pecos and its schedule is starting to fill up.

didnt they already raise money for this place when the last place was robbed?

what is 20k? enough for a years rent?

so we can expect this every year?

this place is a black hole of wasted $$$. not every venue/dumb art thing deserves to exist. donors are only contributing to the exciting certainty of a spring 2014 fundraising campaign, summer 2014 fundraising campaign, fall 2014 fundraising campaign, winter 2014 fundraising campaign, spring 2015 fundraising campaign, etc. etc. forever until these jokers are forced to get jobs

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 10:32 AM

ugh. this begging for dough is pretty sad.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 10:36 AM

why do so many venues/art spaces think it's their community's responsibility to keep them in business.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 10:42 AM

^THIS

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 10:51 AM

Didn't they also raise a lot more than they'd asked for the first time around, too?

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 10:58 AM

It's the holidays.. I think I'll donate to people who are cold, hungry and homeless before I help finance a pet project for a bunch of fuckin hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 11:13 AM

Doorgirls should have to "gag" for donations. Then they'd see more of this Bushwick "community".

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 11:25 AM

These guys really have no shame.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 11:34 AM

Someone took my someday band name - Horselover Fats - no joke. Great, great book.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 12:02 PM

it's always awkward in there. not giving them no dollas

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 12:18 PM

So basically they fleeced everyone with the initial donations and now need more.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 12:49 PM

Well you both just copied it from PKD, so...?

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 12:51 PM

BURN!

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 1:01 PM

WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO?!

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 1:09 PM

That's a lot of scratch to ask for in 3 weeks.

If I were donating I'd personally want some accountability/transparency in regards to where exactly the money is going. Because nobody wants to fund trust fund hipsters too lazy to get a job. Not everybody can perpetually live in Neverland.

That being said, it's an awesome space.

Don't let 1:09 in it will then be noisy barn!

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 1:34 PM

“Horselover Fat's nervous breakdown began the day he got the phone call from Gloria asking if he had any Nembutals.”

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 1:45 PM

Place is useless. Stop giving safe spaces to dangerously boring bands.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 2:33 PM

I'd donate $5 for this place to disappear...

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 4:43 PM

donated $5, saw silent barn run to liquor store, 5 quick picks for the mega millions please, guess that is their plan to stay solvent :\

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 5:09 PM

fuck you, silent barn

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 8:39 PM

Clearly a ruse to cover Yoni's funeral cost.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2013 9:30 PM

#RIPYoni

these guys are earnestly trying to run this space in a posi way. it may not be my kind of spot, but props to them for taking an uplifting route.

hopefully they get past this fundraising hurdle and get onto solid fiscal ground thereafter.
