Thee Oh Sees @ Irving Plaza, Oct 2013 (more by Ebru Yildiz)
Word got out last week that, after a barnstorming five years, Thee Oh Sees were going on "indefinite hiatus." What exactly that meant, we weren't sure but over the weekend, main man John Dwyer posted this on the band's site:
DEAR OH SEES FANS,Given that Floating Coffin came out back in April, that is more than plenty of time for the mega-prolic Oh Sees to crank out another record, and we look forward to hearing that.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.
THE BAND IS NOT BREAKING UP.
THIS IS JUST A WELL DESERVED BREAK AND A TRANSITIONAL PERIOD.
A NEW THEE OH SEES LP WILL BE OUT EARLY 2014
AND WE WILL SEE WHERE THE LIVE SHOW GOES FROM THERE...
UNTIL THEN, BE WELL
When I buy a record, it's usually a label thing. I'm into artists, certainly, but there's labels I support, like Castle Face, John Dwyer and his band Thee Oh Sees. And I buy one of everything from Johnny. Anything Castle Face puts out. I have one LP and one CD of it. You know, CD for the radio show and portability's sake and the LP to listen to.And if you're really jonesing for more Oh Sees, if you buy the Live at Death By Audio flexi book, it comes with a download of their entire September 2012 show (Ty Segall's too).
