Factory Floor
Factory Floor
Chumped

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...

Chumped, PUP, Slothrust, Alarms and Controls, Slow Warm Death @ Death By Audio (BV/EIS-Presents)
We at BrooklynVegan are teaming up with our friends at Exploding In Sound Records to present this punk holiday party at Death by Audio tonight. The lineup's got the poppy punk of Chumped, Toronto's new SideOneDummy signees PUP, bluesy rockers Slothrust, Dischord Records "supergroup" Alarms and Controls (mems. of Circus Lupus, The Crownhate Ruin, etc), and Brooklyn garage punks Slow Warm Death (fronted by John Galm of Snowing). Doors open at 7 PM, first band's on at 8, and admission is $8. Hope to see you there!

Factory Floor @ 285 Kent Avenue
After four years of teasing us with singles and EPs, UK trio Factory Floor finally released their self-titled debut album this year. Like their other work, it's rooted in Detroit techno and acid, but with a stark, post-punk outlook. Live, don't expect an exact representation of the album -- the band rip up their songs live, with live drums and electronics played on the fly.

Fred Falke, Starsmith, Friendly Greg @ Le Poisson Rouge
French house mainstay Fred Falke has been very active as of late after finally getting his debut LP in 2011 after years of singles. He returns to NYC to headline Le Poisson Rouge tonight and guests are promised.

Cass McCombs, Arbouretum @ Bowery Ballroom
The talented and prolific singer-songwriter dipped his toes into Americana on his sprawling, 22-track album Big Wheel and Other. Add to that his two albums from 2011, lets hope he can make room for a few older songs too.

Girl Unit, Eprom, Grenier @ Glasslands
Kelis's new labelmate Girl Unit makes stabbing dance beats with big, heavy synths, and he should be able to get the dancefloor moving tonight.

Thalia Zedek, O13 @ Mercury Lounge
Thalia Zedek got back with her old band Come this year, but she's still kicking as a solo artist, and her own material is very worthy as well.

Surkin, Canblaster, Beto Cravioto, Travmatic @ Output
Parisian producers Surkin and Canblaster teamed up earlier this year for a banger of a track, "Stronger." It sounded destined to be a hit in the clubs, and we'll likely find out how true that is tonight. You can watch the video for that track below.

Von Shakes, Grand Cousin, Kissing Is A Crime, Captain Baby @ Shea Stadium
Brooklyn's Kissing Is A Crime is one of the city's better new post-punk bands, and they've been playing a lot lately but if you haven't caught them yet, now's another chance.

The Shrine, Natur, Dirty Fences, Iron Force @ The Acheron
The Shrine have been on the road with Red Fang for a tour which hit Bowery Ballroom last night, but tonight the heavy retro riff-rockers headline their own, smaller show at Brooklyn punk/metal venue Acheron. Support is good (and likeminded) too, so get there early.

Au Revoir Simone (DJ set), Brian Russ (from Backwords), The Hairs @ The Flat
This is a launch party for Issue #1 of soda magazine Fizz Navigator. In addition to sets from The Hairs and Backwords' Brian Russ, Au Revoir Simone will spin tunes, soda cocktails will be served and everyone gets a copy of the first issue of the magazine.

Max Bemis, Matt Pryor (of The Get Up Kids), Sherri Dupree, Perma, Merriment @ The Studio at Webster Hall
There's a bunch of artists on this bill, but our performer of choice is Matt Pryor, who fronts The Get Up Kids but has been focusing on his solo career lately, having released a solid rock-oriented album Wrist Slitter and a collaborative EP with TGUK's James Dewees this fall. Sold out.

Pop. 1280, Ukiah Drag, Herzog Rising, Nick Klein @ Trans-Pecos
Fans of the dark, noisy, and gothy shouldn't miss this show at Todd P's new venue Trans Pecos (915 Wyckoff Ave, aka the old Silent Barn space). Pop. 1280 and Herzog Rising are local faves, and Ukiah Drag, fresh off a tour with the likeminded Destruction Unit, should be great too.

The Sadies, The Ribeye Brothers @ Union Hall
Canadian band The Sadies have been making twangy rock for nearly 20 years, with this year's Internal Sounds being the band's 16th album.

Peter Stampfel, Daniel Bachman, Ralph E. White, Colby Nathan @ Union Pool
Cult-folk enthusiasts, take note. This bill is stacked with Holy Modal Rounder and Jeffrey Lewis collaborator Peter Stampfel, American Primitivism guitar great Daniel Bachman, Austin's avant-country singer Ralph E. White, and his noisy freak-folk tourmate, Colby Nathan.

Nick Kroll @ The Capitol Theatre
Comedian and TV star Nick Kroll performs tonight, with some good opening acts too -- Mike Birbiglia and Michael Ian Black.

Wilsen, Monogold, The Canon Logic, ARMS @ Glasslands
The folky Wilsen have played local shows with Basia Bulat and Lia Ices, and if you're into those artists, you'll probably find something to like in Wilsen too. Openers ARMS play around NYC a lot too, and are also worth catching.

Bridget Everett @ Joe's Pub
While she's been previewing her new show "Rock Bottom," lately, Bridgett Everett's performance tonight is a "regular" show with her band The Tender Moments (which features Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz on bass).

Magneta Lane, Annie Activator, Incircles, The Breaking Sounds @ The Grand Victory
This underrated, long-running Canadian trio play their second of two NYC shows this week. Grand Victory -- itself underrated -- will be a cool place to see them.
