Black Lips at Bowery Ballroom in 2013 (more by Dylan Johnson)
Black Lips

As discussed, Atlanta garage rockers Black Lips are releasing a new album, Underneath the Rainbow, on March 18 via Vice, and its single "Boys in the Wood" has just been given the video treatment. In true Black Lips fashion, it's a wild, disgusting video and you might call it NSFW for its drug use, acts of violence and sex, and people covered in blood and urine. The video was co-directed by the ATL Twins and Matt Swinsky, and you can check it out below.

The band's previously announced tour brings them to NYC on April at 17 Webster Hall with Natural Child (tickets), though you can also see singer Cole Alexander in NYC much sooner with his Old King Cole Younger project, which plays Baby's All Right on Friday (1/24) with Beach Party (tickets). All upcoming Black Lips dates are listed below.

The Coathangers

The West Coast leg of Black Lips' tour is being opened by The Coathangers, who will release their fourth album, Suck My Shirt, on March 18 via Suicide Squeeze. The band just revealed the first single from that album, "Follow Me," which is a nice dose of garage punk and can be streamed below.

That stream, the Black Lips video, and list of tour dates below...

"drug use, acts of violence and sex, and people covered in blood and urine"

... or, business as usual at St. Vitus Glory Hole

I'd rather listen to Aerosmith's "Pump" on cassette in a 1994 Ford Festiva with stuck closed windows, with four un-showered bros in gastrointestinal distress, in Nevada, in the middle of July than listen to the Black Lips.

^^^definitely said by someone who's never been to Saint Vitus.

its good but i feel like allot of bands are kinda going for the mastodon sound of decently harsh vocals then real soft at parts, nothing wrong with that,i like it but allot of these bands seem to have the same guy singing, and the just cant hit the spot..

They kind of remind me of the Ramones from there garage days. I found them looking up the song from the t-mobile commercial. There good.
