David Crosby @ City Winery, 1/28/2014
David Crosby

You wrote many of these songs with your son James Raymond. What was it like working with him?

It's a joy. He's maturing as a writer. He's becoming better and better. Sometimes I think he's better than me. He's a fantastic musician and a great poet, and he's my son, so we have a DNA connection.

How is it opening your shows with the new album?

Risky business. We did it in Santa Barbara [Calif.] as warm-up. It went down well, but I was scared. In show business, there's a rule that you do not sing an entire set of brand-new s--- they've never heard before. - [AM NY]

A genuine rock legend, David Crosby just released Croz, his first solo studio album in 20 years. (Stream it via Rdio.) He's currently on tour where he plays the new album in full and then follows with a set of classics from throughout his career. That tour is currently in NYC where, last night (1/28), Crosby played his first of three shows at City Winery. Pictures and setlist from that show are in this post.

Crosby is also working on a three-disc CSNY live box set recorded on their 1974 tour. Look out for that. Crosby plays City Winery again tonight (1/29) and Friday (1/31), both of which are sold out. More pics from night 1 below....

David Crosby-still a great singer, but, by all accounts, still a prick!
Among other things, he was jealous of Gene Clark and constantly tormented Gene, who was a sensitive soul.
Gene got bounced from the Byrds cause he wouldn't fly.
David got tossed because he's an obnoxious, spoiled brat!

wouldn't fly with the Byrds. Perhaps it was the irony that Crosby ran with there...funny.

Still a prick? Are you citing something from 1968 as the basis of the current prickdom?

That CROZ hoodie for 60 bones is a steal! Runs about 80 at Hollister.

This asshole hippie's liver transplant worked but Lou Reed's didn't? What a shame.

Crosby wrote one great song: "Everybody's Been Burned." But Ulver's cover beats the original.

sure he's not gene clark but he has a great voice, his only solo effort worth owning is the first lp "if i could remember my name"

"Sometimes I think he's better than me"

Ha ha ha you arrogant old fuck, you were by far the weakest link in the CSNY franchise, and the only thing you have done in the last 20 years is spluge in the cup for Melissa Etheridge (and that probably because she looks just like you, you arrogant fuck)

Lou Reed gets a new liver and croaks.

This old hippie asswipe gets one and is still going strong years later.

There is no God.

I really hate when aging hippies wear nice clothes and play with guys with short haircuts, dressed in khakis and ribbed v-necks. Unforgivable.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 2:12 PM

Oh gawd!!! City Winery is sooo steaming hot and I'm sooooo old. These lights beating down on me. Hot flashed due to MANopause. I'm a douche.

Better wear a wool cap!

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 3:06 PM

LOL @ old hippies playing custom made Martin guitars that would cost you or me >$10k to have made for us. TAKE IT TO THE MAN, CROSBERRY!

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 3:13 PM

I guess he had more $$$ for a better liver than the one Lou Reed got.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 3:22 PM

Only 1 song from "If I could only remember my name"? and no "Triad"

Oh fuck this guy.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 3:52 PM

He doesn't even play "Everybody's Been Burned," the best song he ever wrote.

What a dickhead. Lou should have gotten that liver.

Go find an interview with this hippiecrit and tell me you don't want to throw tomatoes at that mug. It's not hard to find interviews with him on the internet since this whiney bitch never shuts the fuck up.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 4:28 PM

Oh well, Ulver's version of "Everybody's Been Burned" cuts Crosby's anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2014 4:45 PM

How many posts did the one angry guy post here?

liver transplants work out better when the donor is unwilling and unsuspecting. that's why he is a serial inseminator. to breed the perfect donor who will go missing unnoticed by the negligent fake wannabe parents who just wanted attention and a convenient tax deduction.

if only I could remember my name might be one of the best albums ever made

>Ha ha ha you arrogant old fuck, you were by far the weakest link in the CSNY franchise

C'mon, man. Even Graham Nash doesn't believe that.

you needed your rich politician daddy to get you out of the Vietnam draft, and you are the one whose voice is totally gone now. You would be nothing without the ideas you stole from better musicians, and the generous opportunities afforded you by people like Al Kooper and Dewey Martin.

i see crosby supporting the 'occupy' movement and yet he has a martin guitar worth more than i earn a year. cunt.

David Crosby does it again! Another fantastic album. Thank you David

"I wonder who they are, the men who really run this land, and I wonder why they run it with such a thoughtless hand. What are their names, and on what streets do they live? I'd like to ride right over this afternoon and give them a piece of my mind about peace for mankind. Peace is not an awful lot to ask!" david crosby
