Deafheaven

Deafheaven have an upcoming tour with Between the Buried and Me and Intronaut that hits Long Island in February, but as their tweet above confirms, you can see them in NYC much sooner than that (and with a more desirable lineup). They're the special guest on Saturday's (1/18) show at 285 Kent which also includes Wolf Eyes, Noveller, Alberich, MV Carbon, Lussuria and Sugarm. Unfortunately, that show is sold out.

Deafheaven were also confirmed for NYC festival Governors Ball.

Disposable band, disposable venue, disposable people.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:31 PM

Awesome, truly a pleasant surprise.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:36 PM

I know these guys by name from reading BV, but is there any reason that I should be excited about this news?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:37 PM

^^yeah they pretty much rule n so does wolf eyes so your all fucked

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:39 PM

^ because even though they are a very hip black metal band, the album is fantastic and probably one of these most modern sounding BM bands. Haters are always going to hate.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:40 PM

saw deafheaven last year at Vitus. Boring as hell, snoozefest, overrated to the bone.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:48 PM

Black metal is stupid. Wolf Eyes peaked 10 years ago when Dilloway was in the band. You're all so late to the game, it makes me wanna cry tears to drown you all in.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:52 PM

disposable teeeeeeens

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:53 PM

If you think this is black metal, you're a dweeb. This shit makes Liturgy look good.

Flavor of the week bullshit championed by scarves who like to think they have eclectic taste.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:56 PM

Deafheaven is not a metal band.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:58 PM

Oh they're a metal band. OK, got it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:02 PM

It's X + Y music-making. Something for all the trainspotters w/ no imagination to jizz all over.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:27 PM

2:48: Knowing that your experience would happen in advance to a band like Deafheaven is exactly the reason why I saved some more money.

Go see KEN Mode next month, instead.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:34 PM

^KEN Mode rules, agreed

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:57 PM

@2:58 Lol you were never in the game if you respected wolf eyes even with dilloway. Keep talking big you puseur.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 4:02 PM

Deafheaven>KENmode

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 4:11 PM

The controversialpods.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 4:38 PM

285 Kent is a bag of dickz.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 5:00 PM

^^rough trade is much better, ami right?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 5:16 PM

watching a metal argument is like watching a midget spotlight. Even if someone makes a good point it doesn't matter for the absurdity of the scene. and both are funny ballz.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 5:25 PM

^ midget *slapfight*
stupid spellcheck

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 5:26 PM

Metal has to be the most hostile and critical genre to be apart of. Think of it, popularity is bad being good is bad being different is bad. There are so many guidlines and also inconsistencies on what makes a great metal band. What makes the arguments insufferable is that the people contributing their opinions and arguing are very autistic.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 5:37 PM

no, it's motherfuckers posting their opinions left and right like anybody gives a shit that is the problem. DH is still gonna get that money regardless of whatever subgenre nerds on the internet think they do or do not fit into

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 6:03 PM

I am going to call pizza hut and have them deliver a sausage lovers pizza with extra sausage to 285 kent on saturday

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 6:09 PM

Dh is perfect for 285 kent, a soulless place for a pretentious crowd. Please stay there and don't play Vitus or Acheron. Good luck with you Long island shows too!

so much hipster butthurt on this thread. love it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 11:00 PM

Getting fucked in the ass with dogdick music will in fact make you butthurt. Tis a fact, jack.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 11:27 PM

so much sausage bellyaching in this thread, well no one said a tummy full of man juice wouldn't give your tummy the grumblies :-(

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 11:27 PM

^metal just called me. they're gonna call it quits, due to your brutal insults. you win!

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 11:50 PM

Good for them! Great band! I hope the packed venue burns to the ground!

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 8:59 AM

11:50 likes to yell in open corn fields, makes him feel important

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 9:27 AM

9:27 just yelled into an open corn field.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 11:20 AM

^ LOL apparently not! You have yourself a nice day, now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 11:44 AM

^was it your dad that left your mother, or your mother that left your dad?

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 12:43 PM

^ dumbass as fuck right there

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 12:54 PM

this is terribly disappointing. how the fuck does deafheaven make any sense after these other acts? would have been better to just let wolf eyes close

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 3:00 PM

or better yet AFI. jesus fucking christ.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 3:17 PM

^^ they opened up for sonic youth once and wolf eyes are on subpop. What do you expect fucking CCCC to play with these poseurs

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 3:30 PM

Deafheaven is a good band, but all this critical love is why metaheads don't take mainstream outlets seriously. What they're doing is not new, at all. They're a good band, but not the new wave of fucking anything.

I will agree with the Ken Mode love, now there's a metal band tearing up some shit. Of course the sound is unforgiving, which is why they have yet to truly grace a white page between green borders, but whatever, more music for us.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 6:21 PM

heads about heads

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 6:22 PM

I'm glad to see 285 kent go.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2014 6:52 AM

Grimes cut a fart in 285 Kent, so Pitchfork thinks they should memorialize it like its CBGB or something. What a joke!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2014 8:09 AM

well the pizza hut comment made me chuckle at least

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2014 12:17 PM

this is a great band period

Posted by Deangelis | February 26, 2014 6:56 AM

If you like the singing or not you cant deny the guy is incredibly passionate, from what i've seen at live shows he completely loses himself in his music. Honestly just give it time and the vocals grow on you as does the rest of the album, ive never listened to metal before but I think this album is a great gateway album
