JSBX @ Bowery Electric, 2012 (more by Dana [distortion] Yavin)
JSBX

We just posted about Speedy Ortiz being revealed as the "secret headliner" at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on February 7, and that's not the only new addition to its upcoming winter schedule. On February 15 they'll have the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion blowing things up. Pitchfork reports that Jon and the band are currently working on a new album and, for Record Store Day '14, will release a live cover/mashup of early Beastie Boys' gem "She's on It" with Link Wray's "Jack the Ripper" which they've been playing at shows for a while. The JSBX also have some West Coast dates in April and those are listed below.

In other Bazaar news, on February 22 Savoir Adore will be bringing their danceable pop to the party. Rest of those line-ups are still TBA and the shows, like all at BKNB, are free.

Also:Bernie Worrell is no longer playing on February 14. New headliner to be announced soon.

This weekend's Night Bazaar entertainment should be fun. Friday (1/24), Macaulay Culkin's novelty act Pizza Underground are amongst an otherwise cohesive bill of slick, '80s-leaning pop with French Horn Rebellion, Rush Midnight and Heavenly Beat. Then on Saturday (1/25) it's Har Mar Superstar plus Computer Magic, Not Blood Paint, and Static Jacks.

Of course in addition to the music, there is shopping, food (they just added Pok Pok as a vendor), beer and wine, neon mini golf, ping pong, old arcade games and more.

Just listened to a John Spencer song on Spotify, sounded like a total White Stripes/Black Keys rip off. What am I missing?

Apparently the minor fact that Spencer has been around since the 80's.

10:57: The fact that the last person that was here that found those "jokes" amusing was sometime around 2007.

Who cars who did what first?
You either like the music or you don't period.

Hilarious how different ages/generations ike to claim what they listened to was invested like the wheel back in their day.

With some very few exceptions (which are simply appealingly distant from their influences), none is original.

Hmmm. Let's see we all have a head, torso, 2 arms, 2 legs, fetts hands, etc…

Anyone out their mutated to something new and original lately?

I bet 12:48 gets dissed because of spell in, as if it is proof or something.
It's about all anyone would have.
Nicely done.

A fukn history lesson is what [you're missing]! I'd beat my headstock against yr oblivious skull if you insisted the Blues Explosion ripped off any of those Pop-tart wannabes.

I pretty vomited the first time I ever heard Jack White or The Black Keys
