Outkast

We knew Outkast would be reuniting for Coachella (which was just confirmed in the 2014 lineup announcement last night) and other shows this year, and one of those shows is a headlining slot at NYC music festival Governors Ball, which goes down on Randall's Island from June 6-8. Their appearance was confirmed by a GovBall representative to Rolling Stone.

GovBall has also been dropping lineup hints on their Twitter, including a picture of Biggie and Tupac (???).

Watch an Outkast video below...

But the other headliner is Phoenix...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:01 PM

FUCK YES

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:02 PM

"But the other headliner is Phoenix..."

That's......kinda weak.

Who da fuq is stone roses

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:03 PM

Understandable, but wish they were just doing their own show. Festivals are a pretty miserable time and I can't imagine this lineup being good enough to change that.

I hope they play "hey you" - that was the best rapping song ever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:05 PM

All the hipsters love to sing along "Heeeeeey Yaaaaaah OH OH"

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:05 PM

^ yes, b/c none of those bands ever play festivals

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:33 PM

disclosure was actually the first hint Gov Ball put out yesterday on their instagram.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 3:40 PM

@3:33 what does the bands not playing festivals regularly have to do with anything? those are the kind of acts gov ball can book, wake up.

"Outkast headlining NYC's Governors Ball"

Yeah, 10 years ago called...

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 4:16 PM

@3:40 the hint was for The Cults (last album was Static)

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 4:19 PM

Whatever the hint was for, disclosure will be there. They have a show in Philly on June 9th.

Outkast was great but their ladder 2 albums were just so-so

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 5:24 PM

which albums are their "ladder 2"?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 5:46 PM

>Outkast was great but their ladder 2 albums were just so-so

And there you have it kids. Today's winning sentence of how to not use the correct word is by that Anonymous poster. Lovely. And on top of their incorrect use of "ladder", the comma. The comma! Geez. And also, the use of "was" puzzles me. I think you mean, they're are great, so you probably mean to say "is". Or maybe, they were great in their time, but you then you use "were". Basically, that's one fucked up sentence.

How's this:

Outkast is great, but their latter two albums are just so-so.

Or:

Outkast is great; their latter two albums are just so-so.

Although I should probably stop writing before I muddle myself into some silly grammatical mess.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 9:14 PM

Hi ... 6:17pm here. Yes. To Anonymous, shocking(!), poster, yes, the, shocking(!), anonymous poster should have used a comma after "silly". It brings a tear of happiness to my eye to know that my lil' BV readers are now paying attention to what they are saying on here. Fuck it all. I love you guys and gals. Drinks on me at Cake Shop, beetches.

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 9:18 PM

"Outcast" instead of "Outkast"?

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2014 9:38 PM

Also heard Vince Vaughn will be doing an opening stand-up act to round out the Outkast set. Can anyone confirm/deny? 2004 is shaping up to be a great year.

@ 3:02 - Phoenix is playing Govball, but I don't think they are one of the three headliners...

"I'm pretty sure OutKast started in 2004, but I was too busy watching for my first pubic hair to grow to pay any attention..."

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2014 11:06 AM

NICE- hopefully they get the Replacements also so I don't feel bad about missing Coachella.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2014 12:30 PM

I dunno, I'd only be excited about the Replacements if they skipped material from their ladder 2 albums.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2014 12:52 PM

I thought ladder was the butch lassie, my bad.
