Portishead @ Hammerstein Ballroom, 2011 (more by Dana [distortion] Yavin)
Portishead

While All Tomorrow's Parties held it's final "holiday camp" festival at Camber Sands, UK -- dubbed "End of an Era" -- back at the start of December, ATP will continue to hold events elsewhere. ATP Iceland happens July 10 - 12 in Keflavík at Ásbrú, a onetime naval base. They just announced their first headline acts -- Portishead and Interpol, neither of whom have ever played Iceland. The only other acts announced so far are all Icelandic: Sóley, For a Minor Reflection, Samaris, Low Roar, and Mammút. More to be announced and tickets are on sale now.

I've always wanted to visit Iceland! It's not much further from NY than LA is and unlike most of you townie losers I have a passport. Maybe this will be the year I make it. Hopefully they add Dead Skeletons and Singapore Sling. .....

Look, Iceland said F-Off to the EU, successfully, mind you.
Would love to go there and not because of this show.
Hot springs and beautiful color.

When this Disc first came out I read at least one critic call it something like, "The Best 'Bond Film' that never got filmed." It kind of fits, especially as the 'Craigs' are evolving into meditations on the aging of the franchise. At any rate this and NIN's 'Pretty Hate Machine' became the 'UP' and 'DOWN' beat for background music to a lot of puttering around the house for me.
