Savages at Terminal 5 in 2013 (more by Wei Shi)
Savages

British post-punks Savages just put out another video from their Silence Yourself album, this time for "Strife." The video was inspired by the beach murder scene in Albert Camus' The Stranger, and directed by Antoine Carlier, who is a co-founder of Pop Noire with Savages' Jehnny Beth.

Watch the new video below...

These guys fight like a couple of NBA players. All kinds of crazy flailing arms all over the place.

Nice album and they have I think the newest style on this newest song they had.

A post-punk reimagining of Camus' The Stranger...is 35 years the statute of limitations for ripping off The Cure?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 12:49 PM

^Seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:01 PM

remember when we cared about this band?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:19 PM

^remember when i fucked your girlfriend?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:30 PM

^ No, I really don't remember. At all.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:31 PM

1:31-she does.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:34 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:38 PM

Very Lynchian

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:38 PM

Seriously 1:35. Start a band. Make it better and more easy to promote than Savages. Get some hot shit out there. Show us how it's done, or shut yer crying trap before we call the fucking wambulance.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:40 PM

agreed @1:35. rock culture blows in 2014. i miss the good old days. it's like it's just one of those days when you don't wanna wake up, everything is fucked, everybody sucks. you don't really know why but you wanna justify RIPPIN SOMEONE'S HEAD OFF

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 1:42 PM

I like my rock to have some balls... And I think these girls have balls if ya know what I'm saying.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:12 PM

WICKED GAME + CAMUS = fuckin D U M B

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:25 PM

2 observations:
1) Lots of bitter men jealous of some talented women getting well earned props
2) Damn, there's some funny ass snark on BV in this thread

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 2:45 PM

2:12 tells his friends he's just into chicks with dicks on an ironic level. you know, the post-modernism of it all.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:04 PM

Dipping my baby carrot all up in your girls hummus platter

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:07 PM

3:04 hasn't left his mom's house since Clinton was president

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:08 PM

Honestly, the delusional defenders getting up in arms are main reasons why I enjoy the comment threads.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:12 PM

I liked this concept better the first time, when it was called KILLING AN ARAB.

Seriously, why does no one seem to care that this band is one rehashed, half-assed idea after another. Because they're "so good" live? Because they're all girls? Because they're trying to be serious and edgy underneath the influences being worn on their sleeve? Give me a break, eother way.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:14 PM

Foo Fighters with Siouxsie singing. BEST NEW BAND BEST NEW MUSIC.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:18 PM

3:08 is 2:12 and, hilarious Clinton presidency/mom's basement jokes aside, still likes to find a stiff little prize in a ladies' panties.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:18 PM

I think hipster dudes get all offended by girls in bands because they've emasculated themselves already so much, but it's not really okay when the outside world does it to them.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:20 PM

But isn't it the hipster dudes who actually like this band?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:22 PM

Calling out sexism is in itself sexist. But you're all too stupid to figure that out huh? If a band sucks, a band sucks. This band is annoyingly sucky, because they're ALMOST good. But in fact, so very far from good. What a brain-buster. They're women? So, I can;t say they suck. Yup, that's not sexist or assbackwards, you hypocritical grad students you.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:25 PM

^amen.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:26 PM

How many of you shitheads have ever heard a band like Bound & Gagged? Six women, amazing band. Stop talking out yr ass, you cretins.

p.s. Savages are generic pastiche.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:26 PM

when 3:25 was in grad school he got called a sexist by a girl he wanted to fuck. this was years ago, but he's not letting it go easily. if you have a problem with that, you can suck his dick.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:33 PM

Wild Flag were a great band. Savages are not a great band.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 3:38 PM

No hooks, no ideas, no songs, no personality.

Too bad because they can play the fuck out of their instruments. If only it weren't all so boring and reductive.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 4:40 PM

3:25 didn't go to grad school cuz he didn't need to be told how to think, or who to think for.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 6:41 PM

3:33 thinnks Wavves is punk

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 6:42 PM

Savages are great live and I think the album is excellent.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 6:56 PM

I love it when dudes with no dog in the fight throw their dog into the pit just for thw fuck of it. The best part is that most of the time one of the sides is too wound up to realize what is going on, and then he's like fresh chum. And sometimes the tables turn and the trolls get trolled. Just saying.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 8:02 PM

How much do you love it? Show me. Show me how much you love it, you dirty boy.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 8:32 PM

^ just what the fuck are you talking about?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 9:10 PM

Wonder why people flip their lids over this band. They're not bad but overall, pretty generic and unmemorable. Nothing revelatory; There are hundreds of acts that did this sound way better ten years ago and many more that did it even better back in the late 70's - mid 80's. That's my take.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 9:44 PM

Your take is correct and anyone with a modicum of taste would concur.

Now go fuck yourself.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 10:15 PM

oh the hate runs deep in this thread

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2014 11:30 PM

8:02, was that some next-level science you were just dropping there?

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 1:39 AM

119 no.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 1:59 AM

"British post-punks Savages" They look kind of young to be a post-punk band. They might be a decent band if they had a shred of originality. Oh wait, that could be most any band these days!

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2014 2:02 AM

influenced me sooo much ......
