Chicago songwriter Tim Larson was a previous member of the long-running but now-defunct Celtic band The Drovers, and he’s been an active solo musician for a few years. His own material has gained comparisons to Michael Gira and Mark Lanegan for his low voice and dark songwriting, and the comparisons are pretty appropriate. Tim’s new album, Vargar, comes out on February 4, and if you’re a fan of either of those guys, you’d benefit from checking it out. The whole thing is streaming below, and you can grab a free download of its opening track, “Chasing It,” above. Tim’s only upcoming date at the moment is a hometown release party.
