Neil Young at Farm Aid 2013 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Neil Young

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...

Neil Young @ Carnegie Hall
Neil Young did the Crazy Horse thing for much of 2012 and 2013, playing some excellent, noisy shows, and tonight he begins a four-night run at Carnegie Hall, which will presumably be more stripped down and show off his prettier side.

Potty Mouth, Radiator Hospital, Kissing Is A Crime @ Glasslands
Tonight Glasslands hosts an excellent double bill of punky indie rock (or indie rock-y punk) with the deadpan melodies of Potty Mouth and the #feelings bedroom rock of Radiator Hospital. Local post-punks Kissing Is A Crime open, and they're worth catching too.

Child Abuse, I Don't Hear Nothin' But the Blues, Nebadon, Weakwick @ Silent Barn
Local faves Child Abuse bring the heavy, technical noise to Silent tonight, and there's a strong support bill, including I Don't Hear Nothin' But the Blues (whose lineup includes Mick Barr of Krallice) and savage Minneapolis noise rockers Weakwick.

Mike Birbiglia @ Union Hall
Mike Birbiglia plays big rooms these days but still loves testing out new material at cozy Union Hall. This early show is sold out.

John Hodgman @ Union Hall
Right after Birbiglia wraps up, John Hodgman will take over Union Hall for a show he's calling "Daddy Pitchfork." We're not sure exactly what that is, but it's sold out.

Wyatt Cenac's Night Train @ Littlefield
Get on board Wyatt Cenac's weekly Night Train comedy show, this week with guests Max Silvestri, Dan St. Germain, Tiffany Stevenson, Justy Dodge and more. Tickets are still available.

who the fuck is neil young? I only listen to authentic punk like swearin' and speedy ortiz, and culturally acceptable stereotypes like danny brown. and seeing as this neil young guy has never done a remix for any of those bands, I say fuck you neil young.

I saw Neil Young out in the middle of a corn field once.

12:49: Yes, it doesn't take much to make such a lame joke like that and still have something like that be 10000x funnier than any hummus "joke".

Posted by Anonymous | January 6, 2014 10:08 AM

10:08 lacks any humor. I judge him as unnecessary. That is all.

Neil Young just took a shit and it sounded better than Kanye West's recordings.

My prediction was correct for Neil. Big ticket. You can't get in the door for less than 150 for any of this week's shows.

Posted by Anonymous | January 6, 2014 1:38 PM

LOL at the idiots who were telling people to wait and buy tix at the last minute for Neil. Good luck with that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 6, 2014 1:46 PM

12:49. Der.

Posted by Anonymous | January 6, 2014 1:47 PM

neil young tix was a great trade. Kinda bummed I'm not gonna see him, but happy with the $200 profit.

Message to the "you can't get in the door" for Neil Young. You are a fucking idiot. I went tonight. Bought a ticket outside, 10th row on the left side for $75

Just to recap for you idiot, that was a 200 dollar ticket for 75.

There were a number of people selling and not as many buying plus I was sitting in a row with a guy who got 2 yesterday off Craigslist for 100.00 each.

Just to recap for you idiot, that was a 200 dollar ticket for 100.00

You can take your stupid wrong prediction and suck on it.
