Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks @ Generation Records
The Jicks’ new album, Wig Out at Jagbags, is out today and SM is celebrating with two appearances today. At 4 PM he’ll be Momofuku Milk Bar in Williamsburg, digging into his “Cinnamon and Lesbians” ice cream and signing posters. Then at 8 PM, he and the Jicks will play live at Generation Records which is free with purchase of the new album.

Neil Young @ Carnegie Hall
Neil Young did the Crazy Horse thing for much of 2012 and 2013, playing some excellent, noisy shows, and tonight he’s on night 2 of a four-night run at Carnegie Hall, which will presumably be more stripped down and show off his prettier side.

Feathers, Fielded @ Mercury Lounge
Austin’s Feathers are on their way to Europe where they’ll be opening for Depeche Mode, definitely a good pairing given their moody, synth-heavy sound. Before they jet off, they’re playing this show at Mercury Lounge.

Bobby Previte’s TERMINALS, John Medeski, Nels Cline, So Percussion, Helado Negro @ Le Poisson Rouge (Winter Jazzfest)
The 2014 Winter Jazz Fest begins tonight with this kickoff show that includes eclectic drummer/composer Bobby Previte, John Medeski (of Medeski Martin & Wood), guitar great Nels Cline, the always-interesting So Percussion, and experimental Brooklyn musician Helado Negro.

Frankie Cosmos, Free Pizza, Dylan Ewen, Flower Girl @ Death by Audio
Anti-folk-inspired singer Frankie Cosmos recently announced her full band debut, Zentropy, and this is her first show since that announcement. Hopefully we’ll hear some of it tonight.

Comedy Notebook with Liam McEneaney @ House Works Bookstore
Janeane Garofalo, Myq Kaplan, SNL‘s Vanessa Bayer and Catherine Popper try out new material tonight. FREE.

The Goddamned Dave Hill Show on WFMU
Filling the timeslot of the departed and much-loved Best Show, Dave Hill makes his proper radio debut tonight with guests Philip Anselmo, comedian Jon Benjamin, and rock person Doug Gillard. Tune in here at 9 PM EST.
