Why are people so obsessed with this place? A venue closed, big fucking deal. Another will open.

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 7:56 PM

culture vulture

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 8:06 PM

This place sucked. And this wastoid mentioning it basically confirms that one. Good riddance.

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 8:11 PM

people are making a big deal because this is the first taste of change for alot of these transplants that moved here in the last few years...wow i remember 285 kent ...

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 8:36 PM

why the fuck are all of the comments on BV left by salty dorks with superiority complexes?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 8:47 PM

GOT DRUNK AT A SHOW ONCE

LIFE. CHANGED. FOREVARRRRR.

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 9:03 PM

I understand that the place closed and they had a ton of indy rock shows. But it was open for 4 fucking years. It's not like the place has been around since the 70s.
I am sure the people who ran the place have already found a new spot to have the kids cry about.

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 9:09 PM

^ Maybe because we've had an agonizingly unlistenable borderline-retarded 14 year old white girl being marketed as a "rapper" shoved down our throats on a semi-daily basis for almost two years mainly because of not-so-sly corporate sponsorship. Sorry, was that too salty for you?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 9:13 PM

^ this. p a y o l a blog cashin' dem checks nigga

THIS SONG MAKES ME ASK: DID THE SITE GET HACKED?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 9:25 PM

To sum Kitty and the whole Buzzfeed click farm blogosphere community up, in the words of one of the soundcloud commenters:

"THIS SONG KILLS!

follow4follow?"

Posted by Matt Fuller | February 6, 2014 9:32 PM

This is interesting, but I'm really looking forward to the miltitude of songs that will come out when Mamouns closes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 10:39 PM

Did they actually have Indy Rock Shows there?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2014 11:02 PM

"Buzzfeed click farm blogosphere"

"Nice apt description, except its SPINMEDIA now."

Sure it is. Keep telling yourself that, kid.

Posted by Matt Fuller | February 7, 2014 12:02 AM

ha, you commenters here come across as such sad individuals. I suppose you people have never had the experience of making life-changing, inspiring memories in a new place??

Instead of being elitist and hating on Kitty and her fave place that shut down. Perhaps you could've, more constructively, named some places you made great memories at that shut down.

Make conversation instead of trying to one up someone. You know, be social.

parking lot outside the phish concert > 285 kent

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 12:13 AM

285 Kent = Pianos circa 2003

For any Manhattanites who were of age at the time could shurely agree.

Posted by Matt Fuller | February 7, 2014 12:17 AM

***BEST COMMENT AWARD***

285 Kent is like the fat chick that some short ugly dude loses his virginity to and falls in love with. That bitch AIN'T SHIT... And neither are YOU!

Posted by ***PLEASE READ*** | February 7, 2014 12:39 AM

the tears of a white devil over her closed dive shitbox in a gentrified neighborhood pleases this black man to no end

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 12:59 AM

actually that ^^ deserves the best comment award

Posted by lexi smalls | February 7, 2014 1:05 AM

remember black rappers?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 1:06 AM

alright stop, collaborate and listen, kitty's back with a brand new invention, something grabs a hold of me tightly, flowing like a harpoon daily and nightly

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 1:09 AM

blacks gross me out with their hair oil and sub-human intelligence. that's why I fucks wit Kitty.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 1:18 AM

Aww Kitty... I like you, but your music really isn't that good.
It's cool that your authentic and all, but your music feels disposable like an empty can of pabst blue ribbon. But I wish you the best, and yes 285 Kent was a cool spot, but I think you should release a album with a banjo on it. That's what the kids like these days. "Banjo-Step"

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 2:02 AM

***12:39 WINS!!!*** Sounds like Ke$ha. Saddest shit I've heard in a good minute.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 2:24 AM

this is just like the white neighbor on the Method and Red man show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 3:03 AM

this bitch defends brooklyn like no other
haters can go back to their midwest hell holes where nobody is really vegan

Posted by britney jean | February 7, 2014 3:15 AM

Kitty is from Florida, she literally hadn't been to New York City until halfway through the lifespan of 285 Kent. Go home, tourist, we don't need a lawyer's daughter from Florida writing odes to the gentrification of our neighborhoods while she is doing the gentrifying with daddy's money.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 3:37 AM

White bitch lived here for two years and writes a rap about some white power gentrification zone? Damn FOOL!

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 3:47 AM

She lived here for LESS THAN TWO YEARS!

Posted by James Elenidis | February 7, 2014 4:40 AM

Posted by massagistasp | February 7, 2014 7:51 AM

Never seen a Kitty/Yoko Ono bill. what do you think the story is there?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 8:11 AM

I'm still trying to figure out how a cheesy, commercial sounding track that wouldn't feel out of place at KTU Jingle Ball is somehow an ode to 285 Kent.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 8:58 AM

Kitty is a fucking tourist -- go back to Florida! When you've been born & raised in NY, then you can respond.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 9:08 AM

"disappear like Elizabeth Smart"? Nice, Kitty. I'm sure if for some reason she ever hears this song she'll really appreciate the reference.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 9:20 AM

Arguably the saddest part is that she reads/responds to the comments on here. Gimme a break.

Bill Cosby went to a Kitty Pryde show but walked out after one song.

"when i arrived, it hit me that i had no idea what the fuck i was doing. new york hadn’t seemed as big on my weekend-photoshoot-visits, and i’d never even had to think about where i was sleeping- i’d always had a hotel room waiting." - Kitty Pryde.

I'd rather spend the rest of my life only hanging out with BV commenters than one day with this awful cunt.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 1:12 PM

would be one thing if she was actually hot

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 1:42 PM

What a completely abhorrent group of self inclusive troglodytes.

Posted by BrooklynFreegan | February 7, 2014 3:58 PM

^You are talking about Kitty and her friends, right?

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 4:07 PM

Sounds like Ke$ha.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 7:13 PM

"disappear like Elizabeth Smart" : this spoiled little white transplant needs to exploit victims of kidapping and sex abuse in her raps. How vile.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2014 10:47 PM

You guys are hilarious! And I love this bird and every piece of music she does. Fucking glimmers of hope.

Posted by vegan jules | February 8, 2014 9:22 PM
