Mission of Burma @ The Bell House - 2/7/14
Mission of Burma
Mission of Burma

Indie rock legends Mission of Burma are still going strong, and they just squeezed in a few Northeast US shows last week, including a stop in NYC at The Bell House (2/7) with fellow Northeast indie rock vets Speed the Plough. As always, they brought over 30 years of excellent material, with their 20+ song set reaching as far back as their 1981 debut EP Signals, Calls, and Marches and getting as recent as 2012's Unsound. They did two encores, and in honor of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming to the US, their first encore concluded with a punked up take on both sides of The Beatles' 1966 pre-Revolver single "Paperback Writer" / "Rain."

Pictures of the show are in this post. Check out more, along with the setlist and a video of the Beatles covers, below...

Pissed that I couldn't make this but lo and be hold, I found myself in philly the next night and caught them at first unitarian church. So damn good. Every single time I've seen them, always great and this was no exception.

Always worth seeing. Unfortunately missed this show, but relieved they didn't play Nancy Reagan's Head.

Presence of mind is very important in this field because it needs people who are intelligent.
