RBMA

The documentary on the Red Bull Music Academy's "takeover" of NYC, What Difference Does It Make?, just screened in multiple cities last night (2/17), and now, as promised, it's been released for free online. You can watch it in full below, via RBMA15.com.

RBMA also announced that it will return for another "takeover" of NYC this May. Lineup, show schedule, venues, and tickets are still TBA, but stay tuned for more info on that.

"EXTREME drinks for EXTREME people, BE EXTREME, drink a REDBULL and LIVE EXTREME"

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 2:21 PM

contort yourself!

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 2:24 PM

FUCK YOU REDBULL. And fuck all of the artists who were desperate enough to suck corporate cock. Paraded around for all eternity with Redbull shoved up their indie ass.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 2:35 PM

^^^Yes, as if being on any label or working with any promoter divorces yourself from the "corporate cock." Get real.

All in all, they had a few good events here while in town, the whole shtick wasn't in your face and I guess House of Van's or any CMJ shows are out to? If you want to make it, you gotta take it.

^ Red Bull Intern

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 2:46 PM

2:39 is excited he landed his job as a Red Bull street team leader.

"If you want to make it, you gotta take it"

Huh?! What a tool.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:07 PM

Red Bull should stick to being extreme and sponsoring that red-headed nerd Shaun White.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:08 PM

I'll see all you scarfs at the shows in May.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:13 PM

2:39 probably enjoys the smell of his own nasty Red Bull farts.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:16 PM

CORPORATE NO WAVE EXPERIMENTAL ENERGY JUICE BRO!

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:26 PM

All of these comments are probably the same person--that said--yes, hard to find any inch of the art world that hasn't already be corpatized. Just the way it is.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:37 PM

How can I hate on Redbull when they brought us Four Tet and Jamie XX to a giant warehouse for free! Whatever tools. It was amazing

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:40 PM

^ and Pantha du Prince & the Bell Laboratory to a Westside Church. What a show that was.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:45 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:57 PM

yeah 357...but you're also obsessed with the neutral milk hotel reunion, so...

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 3:58 PM

@3:58

Where I work and what I do puts to shame anything you've ever even experienced in your life.

Anyway, enjoy the late-night shift at Chili's tonight while you save up every dime for PHISH tickets this summer. Twat muffin

Dude, you're commenting about Red Bull sellouts on the most corporatized music blog around while most likely working for a corporation that underpays you and gives you insufficient benefits.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 4:29 PM

When they do announce what venue it will be held in, you can bet that there will be a faint whiff of diarrhea in that building.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 4:37 PM

4:00 - hahaha ... a serious baller, must have alot of swag.

Redbull intern for life, braah.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 10:30 PM

2:39 FUCK YOU INTERN! What other reason would you have to defend a shitty energy drink company, you fuck?

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 11:14 PM

Redbull wouldn't exist without NYHC scene

Posted by D | February 18, 2014 11:33 PM

raise your hand if you are mentally ill

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2014 11:50 PM

***2:39 DOES WORK FOR RED BULL***

2:39 Is the same motherfucker who defends Red Bull in every post about these stupid Music Academy shows. Always brings up how Red Bull wasn't THAT in your face. Then gives examples of other corporate sponsored events, like X-games, Vans etc.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 12:00 AM

—FUCK RED BULL— Chemical water marketed to children.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 4:15 AM

@4:15

Oh yeah I mean I totally see Red Bull commercials all over Nickelodeon....NOT ya fucking dope.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 7:09 AM

Dude sharing honest thoughts > dude who accuses dude #1 of being on someone's street team

The same douche every thread "oh, you must be on their street team" or "you are a paid intern". Fuck man enough! Shit's not funny, and frankly it just tired. No one laughed the first time (on 4chan?) and your panicked attempt for self validation is really getting embarrassing with this. Go get a dog or something.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 8:16 AM

New to the thread so no I'm not the same guy, conspiracy guy. Who that's not an intern spends their morning defending corporate sponsored events? Whatever thing you do for a living, you're defensive about it in the face of people calling this whoring.

If your a fan of the band or one of the artists I don't begrudge you seeing them at this. But yeah "Red Bull Music Academy" is cheesy as fuck, corporate sellout shit. Sorry?

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 8:41 AM

Red bull contains asculfame-k which is poison.

Hummus contains energy giving Phyto-Nutrients which gives fantastic energy for doing rock & roll dance moves such as the hip-thrust.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 9:13 AM

Tony Visconti, Ken Scott, and Nile Rodgers talking a day's worth of making Bowie records.

Brian Eno talking a lifetime's worth of his life in music and art.

Pantha du Prince and The Bell Laboratory putting on a perfect exquisite show.

77 Million Paintings on exhibit 24/7 for weeks.

I don't care if it's Red Bull putting this on or not, it was all amazing.

Please keep shitting on this. Those of us who care about great art will benefit by your sleeping.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2014 10:17 AM

2:39 here. Thanks guys. I totally got fired from my internship today.

Anyway, yeah looking back what I wrote was pretty cheesy, but the point remains whether it is Vans, Red Bull, Bowery, or R5 in Philly or whatever the fuck, it is still corporate and its sad that people would take some of the credit away from the artist presented based on the fact that in NY escaping the corporate option is sometimes impossible--and yes--that is pretty fucking depressing. I only made it to two RB events when they were here--Eno exhibit was pretty cool, that said, I don't drink RB or support their products anymore than I support Coca Cola who basically sponsors everything at the Beacon (and those cure shows a few years a go were pretty bad ass.)

Sad to say that even the folks behind indie establishments are sometimes corporate hacks themselves.

It is utter bullshit. ATP's new incarnation failed, which really sucks--so if RB decides to bring in some-what interesting things in late spring to go to, who am I to judge?

LOL @ the clown posting about street team / internship pleading ignorance of the use of that on BV

Sorry Veronica, but you can get fisted or back in the cage but you can't have it both ways
